Mothballs contain alcohol, not a way I would want to run 87 octane gas in a vehicle that needs 91+. If you want to increase the octane rating of 87 gas to be more cost effective try mixing toulene with the gas or try alcohol or water injection. Of course there are alternatives for your daily driver car like natural gas, propane, or hybrids/ plug in hybrids. Expect gas prices to go up about another 40 cents for regular within the next week or two. All the major fuel companies have now gone on allocation because of the shut down of oil production in the gulf of mexico region because of the hurricane, not to mention there were problems before that i.e. Ecudaor shutting off their oil exports to the United States.

At least we don't live in atlanta where it hit 6 bucks a gallon for regular yesterday.

0% Gulf Coast Oil this side of the rockies. Ours is entirely south american and arabian. Alaskan oil is high sulfer, so the vast majority of that goes to Japan where there air pollution controls are less stringent than ours. That's why they want us to sign the kyoto treaty, so they can keep pouring toxins into the atmosphere at a much higher rate (per unit of productivity) than we do. Done ranting. Hey, maybe when we start getting that oil that certain politicians promised me the iraq war is for, prices will come down.

It was like this 2 years ago in phoenix... alot of gas stations where straight up just out of gas... and if they did it was 5or6$/gal. Really sucked for me... my only mode of transportation to work and school was an 86 gmc suburban... 4miles/gallon... 40gal tank. So getting ~20miles/gal is awesome for me
