People with T2 experiance
Ok, so after my long drive saturday to Bruces house and then to roberts, and bobs shop. I got back home and my cat decided it was time to fall apart (well thats what I think it is) So I drive it home its running fine, just making lots of rattling noises from the cat when decelling or idling. then the next day I get nothing but spits and sputters. its like the power is coming and going very fast no matter what the RPMs are all the way up. I have more info in this thread https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-generation-specific-1986-1992-17/t2-issues-877117/ I havent got the chance to take the cats out and hollow them till I can get a new main cat so I can get some tags, I'm just running a trip permit at the moment.
So I was wondering if anyone's up for a drive out to forest grove to help me figure out whats wrong with it? I'm poor from having to replace part this month already or I'd offer some money, best I can do is offer Beer, and my help when ever you need it. I need to get my car back on the road yesterday. I'm stuck out in forest grove, my girlfriends getting pissed that she has to take the bus since she pays my insurance and buys parts for the car 90% of the time when it brakes. Shes now poor from the seven also.
All I can explain is it feels like a shutter valve sticking, or limp mode.
Again anyone that can give me a hand, I'll be more than happy to return the favor, even if its just running you to go get some parts when your broke down.
Other info is I haven't swapped out the turbo yet, the current turbo is on its way out shrieks and squeals at times.
At this point I like my FB more. Its always an obvious issue with it. no guessing.

I want to add that I'm also a welder by trade, wire feed (mig, and duel sheild) is what I did for a job, but I can stick weld, tig weld, normal flux core but its not my favorite. I'm also a fitter, not just a welder. So if you need any metal fab help I got your back. But I don't have my own welder. Somtimes I can borrow a little flux cored miller but there house burned down and the garage is locked up untill the house is deemed livable again. I'm going to buy a welder soon as I can afford a decent one. I will not buy no chicago electric POS. I used one once and couldn't get it to run a good bead with penitration, one or the other with that crap.

I read you other thread. Make sure your timing is at tdc on the leading. If it is 20' advance like you say, that is way to far. However you may want to read the fsm first to make sure that you are doing it and checking it properly. To much advance timing on a boosted rotary can cause preignition and engine failure. It can also cause poor performance. It does sound like your problem may be in the catalitic converters. You might try taking them out and scoping the inside to see what the internal conditoin is. It may be causing your problems, if it is you can either replace them, or for a quick fix, reem them out. Good luck Joel, and as always I am available by phone if you need.

I don't think they care that much about DEQ. we all know that DEQ's a joke anyways calli has the strictest emmitions laws, and the worst smog and polution problem in the country. Florida had crappy DEQ untill about 5 years ago when they tested the air and found no differance from before, they they just tested the air again after 5 years no DEQ and still no change. We all understand basic automotive theroy, and understand somthing as restrictive as a catalitic converter causes more restriction and burns more gas same is true for the air pump. But I want to try and pass DEQ before I try getting around anything. If I get it running right again and get cats in it should pass no prob. what would cause a midpipe to crack and cat to fall apart inside? I'm scared it may be serious.
I for sure need a wiring harness. I made a code checker light today, and get nothing when I turn on the key. It does work when I put power to the leads, so the light should work. I hooked it up right. I tripple checked. So that should be tons of fun in the cold. I was told that it couldn't be tested on before I got it, but decided to give it a shot anyway.
