Took me 1 hour to pull mine and 3-4 hours to put it back because I didn't do a good job of remembering where everything went.
|
Yea, I think I only lost one screw, because my friend took it out and I dunno what he did with it...
Anyway, see you all tonight! |
Hmm..... I think the previous owner lost probably 1/4th of the screws [it's pretty clear that he screwed with the dash at some point..]
lol.. I can show off how beat up my car is and we can all cry for it. ^_- [Oh, it's nice and loud right now, because the pipe coming off the exhaust manifold is coming loose - one of the studs unscrewed and STRIPPED when we had to pull the exhaust off to replace the rear diff. mount - so it's only been held in by a single nut for a while now and it's gotten loose :P] |
That diff mount sux, I was able to use the rear seat belt holes under the storage boxes in the center to keep the diff in place as the mount sheared from the subframe... One of the bolts lands almost directly on the nose of the diff housing.
I will weld it up one day.... We'll see who's the loudest... |
lol.. yea it was a pain: pulled the whole exhaust sys, except the mufflers and the manifold, working at bad angles, dropped the subframe.. At least it wasn't as bad as I feared ^_^
heh, You have a pretty good chance to be louder - I'm still only at 1200~ on the rebuild so I'm only reving to 4500~5000... Well, I'll pump up the tires and see you guys tonight! ^_- |
Hello? Oregon...
Here comes the snow! Yeah! Anyone know if a 1 to 2 ton arbor press would be enough for pressing bushings or bearings? |

I've read that people suggest a 20 ton press... I would think thats overkill. But it may be hard to orient the parts to press bushings on a arbor press?
The snow is at the mountain.. duh. What's up with the Base? porting, turbo? Goodies? |

Under stock power=boring Yea, I was gonna buy a press, but don't really want to spend $200 on one I was thinking like $50 for a small one... I dunno tho... Bam! Right in tha kissa! |
haha you watched family guy last night. But uh yea... get rid of the automatic xD

lol.. Yea poor tranny is really slow at shifting and the car only has ~160K Mi on it :P
I was just going to convert that car to 5 speed, but everyone I asked about it was like "Oh noes! Don't do that, it's *far far* to much work~!" ...not compared with my GXL's problems though :P lol.. and I don't want to drive all the way to the Mts to get snow - it has to come to me ^_- Stock power's fine for me [or maybe the instability of the GXL makes it seem better.. hmm..] It felt good to rev it up.. but I notice *something else* not working on that poor car: no rev buzzer. [and it's been running colder than normal the last few days.. huh...] So, who wants to help me get the base manually shifting, after I rebuild the engine ^_^ ? |
i heard the FC and FD auto trannies were the same. guess not...
i've only driven one auto FC, and the trans felt suprisingly nice. |

[it was pushing it all out of the over flow :P] |

Then just junk the GXL since it has rear quarter panel damage. :) Or not.. |
...That statement may have just jynxed it all:
I've got a curious question........ What might mysterious red fluid sitting on the LIM be :D? [I can see it if I look carefully from above the upper coolant filler neck, looking down near the oil injection lines and the frontmost oil injector are] It's still liquid, I can get it to move if I bump the car.. [It could be a different color and the angle/background/heat could be making it look different] My best guess is oil.. :/ [loose oil injector maybe??] What do you think? Should I get a ride to work tomorrow and pull of the UIM/Dynamic chamber over the holiday? [ughhh... my DD!] Thanks, -Derek |

Get a stick and get a sample of the liquid and spread it on white paper to find out what it is. Spill MMO on your UIM? :) |
Yep, thats why I premix...
rly, oil is brown? I thought it was supposed to be black. j/k. red=blood... which usually happens to come from my knuckles when I'm working on anything. Isn't MMO almost clear? Like machining oil.. |

Well, after driving it to work this morning [with ~8oz of 2stroke dumped in...], I didn't notice "the fluid" anymore..
Micah, I'll probably jump over there this weekend [friday?] if that's alright with you [I don't really know what I'm looking for, staring at the oil injection lines.. I haven't developed *the eye* for it] - and to grab those center caps :D I'll pour another ~8oz of 2stroke in before I drive anywhere more. [~16oz to 15 gallons of gas] Oh, but I think the Alternator's given it up ^_^" [what is with me, driveshafts and alternators :P?] ..and no, I do not want to live the premix life :P *shivers...* BTW, the red car is pulled into the garage now, so as soon as I get another alternator [or if I just hook up the S5 one..] I'll fire it up for a bit and drain it. |
Cool, friday works. I'll check yer shit out.
