So here is a quick question. Is this annoucement going to mean that parts for the 12a, 13b will be gone period? Because I have just got into Rotary Motors. I am concerned that this may mean that we cannot get parts for our beloved cars anymore.
Is there hope for rotor heads?
Thanks,

This is old news. We already knew Mazda was going to be ending RX-8 production. Unless something has changed, they're still going ahead with the 16X. It was always going to go into a new chassis, not the RX-8.
“Although R-X production is ending, the rotary engine will always represent the spirits of Mazda, and Mazda remains committed to its ongoing development,” he said.
lol Man you're always so negative ^_-
Exactly.
Also I think this is the second time someone's posted a thread like this..
As for older parts, they already discontinued 12A housings, so it wouldn't be too surprising if they discontinued FC housings. But that's not really an issue since FD housings are interchangeable and superior. [Not sure about seals/plates]
I imagine that FD parts production will continue for the foreseeable future. Remember, the newest FDs are only 9 years old right now.
Also, continuing limited production of older parts will keep their tooling going for 16X-Day

Not really a shocker... like it said times have changed. Hybrid that handles like a wet dog turd>sporty coupe... to most the population. I dont doubt that they will continue to support rotaries to keep them alive, but I think the most we will ever probably see of a new rotary is a gutless hybrid version that can out handle other hybrids.

yes yes people i know posting this news was something we all knew was going to happen and some already heard about before. Just wanted to post the official news from mazda. haha this 16x idea is in the making but......... the trend of manufactures making green vehicles like hybrids and full electric cars will be the future and mazda is behind. Sure they have had hydrogen success in europe but making rotary powered vehicles isnt raking in the money. Ford now only owns under 5% of mazda so they have to really look out for their best interests with manufacturing since their practically on their own since the blue oval isnt there holding a hand. Anyways this post was info not a discussion. We will see the rotary engine again someday but not anytime soon and not the same way we all would want it to make a comeback. hybrid rotary with even less factory hp anyone? didnt think so...
ya thats lame. means nothing to me since im an fc owner and not planning on buying a new rotary car probly ever. ill just run rx7 and keep getting rebuilt engines as they perish. besides. one gas hog is enough for me.
