NW chat thread v1.0
who wont you be hearing of? oh just an update, lol its not 100 round trip, its 100 one way, i forgot to check that box when checking prices, so its only like 50 more to fly, and i dont have to spend 2 and a half days on a train. so at this point its either fly or road trip
Tim, you may have to kick me... Im kinda leaning twards an Evo again...
i keep remembering that the STi had some syncro issues, and i talked to one of my buddies that owns a 05 STi, and he said if he were to do it all over agian he would go with an Evo..
hmm, choices choices choices...

Reliability dude... Modded Evos are headaches, moreso than a rotary... And the boxer motor has such a sexy unique exhaust pulse... Not to mention it's a better looking car and STi owners typically aren't douchebags, whereas the Evo owners are
It does, I've only met two cool Evo owners up here... One is TwilightSlide on here and I met him years ago at Pac Raceways when he was driving his old Talon and was an FC owner as well, then I met another guy with an 11.85 Evo a year or so ago that I raced in my SHO at Pac Raceways and for some reason he was impressed by my car and was actually pretty cool to talk to. But especially in Snohomish county the Evo owners are absolute douchebags
well im not planning to do much if any modding, and i really dont want tranny issues, im on like my 7th honda tranny right now and im getting real sick of changing them..lol
well i could be the 3rd cool evo owner that you know.
and i still have the 7 so i cant be that much of a doushe, im selling the honda when the 7 is worth more..lol
i have found a few some what local that are very affordable, so well see where it goes.

the sti is quicker, from a dig or freeway pull, but the evo is more light and agile in the corners, so it really depends on what you want to do with it, i drove an evo 8 about 3 years ago after i crashed my mustang, and i wasnt really impressed with how "quick" it felt, but it did handle nicely, and was nice to just drive around town. just my .02 cents
It looks like it may be a NA model Adrian, or a low pressure turbo model. The "850 Turbo" and "850R" share the same powerplant with high pressure turboes. The 850 is either a low pressure turbo or possibly NA... I'm not sure what models came with NA engines...
Probably NA for that price. THere's an 850 R wagon black on black on ebay for $2800 buy it now, low miles too 140k or something like that. Thats the high pressure turbo and suede interior, better sways, etc, etc.
Its an NA... As in, Not Alot... ( of fun... sexiness...coolness.. sleeper status) None of these is it plentiful in.
850=NA 2.4 inline 5 cyl
850 GLT = baby turbo powah ( 2.3 liter)
850 turbo ( or t-5) = Decent turbo powah ( 2.3 liter)
850 R.... sex. and 10 psi.
Either way, cheap and full of win.

That was some pretty sweet filming. I would have liked to hear some more audio of the cars and seen more legit driving.
But for me the all around performance of the STi would sell me on it compared the the Evo. IMO the reason the Evo "excells" in handling is because it lacks the performance the STi has. It just doesn't pull nearly as hard when you get on the throttle so it's not being pushed thru the turns. I mean come on, wouldn't you want a car that if some stupid kid rolls up and tries to race you all you have to do is burp the throttle for a couple seconds and squash it? You can't do that with an Evo... And you really wouldn't like the Evo crowd... Trust me. Plus, they're ugly...

The community may not be a deal breaker, but to me it's a weighing factor. It definitely makes owning/modding a car more fun when you have cool people to BS with that share the same passion/interest/whatever you want to call it.
I was into VW's for many years and I will admit that I started out in the total wrong direction (rice instead of euro). After receiving a lot of **** from a couple of buddies I just started working with (one owned a Scirocco w/G60 swap, other supercharged VR6 Corrado), research on vortex, and advice from many of the local guys my car took a total 360 for the better. My car was a riced out POS and turned into one of the nicest Jetta coupes around, I regret selling it
The VW community is by far the best, and probably largest, community in the PNW I have ever been a part of and I miss it more than my VW. I will probably buy another VW so when I go to the VW meets to see some old friends I won't be showing up in an RX7, lol.

You won't regret it!
