my gf wants to buy an fd!
mmmm sexy! allright lets get over that and think about this a little further.
right now she wants the fd, but right now she is full time student in college and has a college life salary. she doesn't know fd=financial disaster which might ruin the car for her if she isn't ready for the real cost of fd ownership.
I want this to be a pleasant experience for the both of us, one where we can drive/learn/build the car up together as a team, good stuff. Which means this will have to wait until she is through with college and has time/money to do this the right way. That is really my best advice, but it is hard for me to believe in this, I need more reason.
How do I tell her not to buy fd right now without totally killing this idea for her in the future?
Believe me I want to ride in her fd as much as anyone, let alone how many times I have thought about wanting to build my own so it is hard for me to give the right advice.

i have never had any problems with my 95. get exhaust and some of the other minor bolt on's and there should be no problems. from what ive been hearing its once you start getting into the heavy mods that things start going wrong. i have had mine for about a year and have not had so much as a hic-up. it has been on of the best car expirences in my life.

she is a funny girl, I talked with her last night about an fd and she really wants one right now!
when I ask what she wants she tells me she already has it built in her head the way she wants it.
'I need 430whp to 450whp single turbo because I like going fast and cause the single turbo will eliminate maintaining twin turbo and become less complicated also carbon rear hatch, no sunroof, montego blue, no spoiler, nice sound system, 5 spoke wheels no chrome, flared fenders, tinted windows'
cracks me up she wants 450hp!
I might have to ask point5 take her for a ride in his and show her what a 450hp fd feel like.

Tell her to wait until she's done with school... He won't like the upkeep she'll encounter and she will want to spend all her money to make it 450whp and most likely end up with a not so reliable car... Not the best option for a college student
I rallye'ed Heather Meadows so tough yesterday in a Subaru legacy
neverseen so much understeer haha I guess that is what the handbrake was for. Sore as hell today, first day on the slopes all year! Baker has a nice base already.
