Exclamation Next Steve Kan NW tuning session

This thread is being created in order to find out if there is any interest in bringing Steve Kan back, and when would be a good time to do so. Right now it is completely in the air, and open to any suggestions / opinions.

As many of you know, Steve has tuned up here in the NW many times, and does an amazing job with the cars to say the least. Here is a link to last time he was in town. It hast pretty much all the information, including what he tunes, prices, and so on.

https://www.rx7club.com/nw-rx-7-forum-33/steve-kan-july-tuning-day-761307/

So first, we need to get a count of how many people are interested in being tuned by Steve Kan, and about when they will be ready, or would like to see this go down.

Really, I am open for anything, as my car will be ready again as soon as my ECU comes back. Somewhat the sooner the better, but I don't think the dead of winter is a good time for us to be driving our high powered cars off to a tune.

What are your guys opinions?

Thanks
~Tweak

I'm getting an RX-7 from another forum member way down in New Mexico. It's actually already tuned by Steve Kan but a light tune-up might be a good idea to accomodate for our climate.

Well if Clayton is in for sure Carb Connection in Kirkland has an AWD dyno, I'm sure there are others but not that I can think of off the top of my head

Steve can tune a Hydra ecu right?

-I'd imagine tuning a Subaru 2.5RS w/ a built engine wont be much of a problem for Steve?

Put me down as a maybe. Anytime about a month from now. I need time to port my wastegate and resolve my boost controller issues. Ask him if he has any problem working with a turboxs d-tec.

I think Smart Service on ballinger way in Mountlake Terrace has an AWD Dyno but I am not 100% sure on that.

Alrighty, so from the past Steve Kan tunes, it looks like we need to get 2.5x as many people interested just to get 5 people to be tuned. THEN right when it gets down to sending in deposits and such 5 more people will want to join with money ready haha.

Z-beater, do you think we had too many people last time also? I didn't get to see what time you guys finished Sunday night.

Drift office is Auburn has an all wheel drive dyno, or at least they did about a year ago. That might be an option. Carb connection in Kirkland hates rotaries, (he told this in person) and might not even be interested in hosting the tuning event.

Well, at the same time you have to remember, it might not be worth all the hassel, to get an AWD dyno, maybe pay more? just for 1 AWD car. If we have 8 rx8s and one subaru, I see it hard to justify if it costs more, and we could easily replace him with another rx7.

I in no way want to kick you out of the tune, but I hope you see that you are adding another layer of problems, instead of just being able to go to the dyno we always go to, that Steve knows very well and so on.

With any luck I should be ready for a tune (hopefully soon) after getting all the rest of my parts installed.

Steve can always just tune Zerodrift's car on the back road somewhere, it's generally just as good.

Well, it seems as though there are more and more cars needed tunes in the NW. Right now I am a little concerned that we will find enough people to get this next tune done any time soon. Yes, we are nearing the end of the summer when most people have been working on their cars in the good weather, but we will have to see.

I'm not sure if putting this as a sticky would bring more or less attention to the thread. I'm not going to lie, I haven't looked at a sticky since I joined the forum.

But to answer your question, in my opinion there is ALWAYS going to be a "Next Steve Kan tuning session" thread. As soon as one tune gets done, another one is opened up.

and i've noticed that there a thread of there always being a steve kan thread which is why im asking.
i just want to know if the people doing the majority of the work toget thing set up would rather look for the thread as it goes with the ebb and flow of the forum or have it as a sticky.
i ok with either im just trying to help the peopl who want thier jazz professionally tuned
