New to WA

Hello,

I am and FD owner new to Washington, Seattle / Eastside area (but have had my FD since 96). I need to get a couple of things done to my FD, namely;
- install a low mileage turbos I have (since my current ones have alot of oil blowby and I know I won't pass WA smog with them - since I am in King County).
- install and PFS intercooler
- install and tune a PFC when when the intercooler is installed

Does anyone know a show that can do all of this? Reading some of the NW section posts it looks like there are some engine build shops (Atkins, Pineapple) and not any real "service / install" shops. I have seen a couple of shops mentioned in passing (jerry's, ground zero, etc.) with tuning mentioned but not "installations + tuning" (and definitely not concensus).

So, if anyone could reco a good shop for "installations + tuning" for what I need that would be great.

Thanks and looking forward to meeting some of the NW rotary community.

Mike

+1 for jerry..he does a good job installing engines in our cars...he also does smog certifications..i think...but for tuning...ground zero...i mean for the install you could go all the way to pineapple..

Welcome to WA. Jerry's Little Car Shop in Kent would be a good place to go for general work on your 7. He is a certified emissions shop, so even if you don't pass emissions, if you spend $300 at his shop trying to get it to pass, then you can get a waiver.

I know he can install the turbos for you, and probably the intercooler. I don't think he does any tuning however.

I have heard good things about Jerry's and Mark @ Mt Peak Auto(is he still in business?)

http://www.jerryslittlecarshop.com/

If you are looking to tune I would run the base map and come out to the Steve Kan day. If you cannot wait until May or July I would reccomend Ralph @ Groundzero.

Welcome to Wa

+2 for jerry, I had nothing but good experience taking two separate sevens to him in various states of crap, he brought them back to running strong again. Depending on how fast you get this work done I would sign up for the steve kan tune day in a month or so, z-beater is taking care of the details if you have some specific questions. From my experience his tuning kicks ***.

+3 for jerry, he's rough round the edges but he knows what he's talking about and will help you with whatever he can. not to beat a dead horse, but like everyone has been saying, general work u can take to jerry's and when it comes to tunning, run the base map and wait for steve kan or go to ground zero.

Thanks for the info, sounds like off to Jerry for the install of the PFS intercooler and also my lower mileage stock turbos. I should be able to install the Apexi PFC myself without a problem. In that situation, will the PFC base map be fine to drive around on (not to beat on, but at least drive normally on)?

If so I will setup a Steve Kan session and get on that list.

Thanks,

Mike

ps - will post a pic or 2 later of the car.

As far as I understand it will be just fine. I ran a single turbo w/ every other upgrade available for 1k miles during the break-in on the base map. I did not boost the car but it worked great for me.

Let me know which month you would like to be signed up for. Now quit fiddle farting and let's see some pics!

Here is a link to some pics of my car. Not much has changed externally since then, except my hood and hatch need to be painted (again) due to fading, but that's lower on the list.

LOL, yeah it's a rustbucket now

Wheels are 17" OZ Racing, haven't seen them on many other FDs, so at least it keeps it different.
