New RX7
New RX7
So I picked up a rolling chassis the other month and have just now been able to start working on it. I got a rebuilt motor sent in and was able to pick that up on sunday, but now I am missing a few pieces. I am working on it up in Wilsonville while I go to school down in Corvallis, and wanted to know if it would be ok for me to post up some pictures of the parts that I am missing here in the NW section so that I can have some local guys be able to tell me what they are
? I have never owned an RX7 before and I am excited to get this one up and running. It is a 93 R1 model, so I really want to do it right. When I head back up to Wilsonville this weekend I will take some pictures of it just for all of your sakes. Thanks everyone and let the learning begin!

Thanks guys! I will be putting up some pics here this weekend, but the motor isnt in yet because I am waiting on some turbos. But hopefully all will be well. I cant wait to start going to some meets too, that would be a blast!

Haha, yeah I guess you could call it a purpleish color. It really depends on the light, when it is under the halogens it looks almost purple but in the sun is montego blue haha. Spyder is awesome and has helped me quite a bit, and was just asking me a couple of questions about the car. Nothing wrong with the car at, he was just looking at it and had been tempted to buy it, but I swooped in for the kill first
Sorry for not posting pictures this weekend like I said, I was trying to get the motor together first, and I am missing a few things. But it is nice that NAPA is so close, they seem to have almost every type of nut a bolt that fits our cars, and they dont want $80 for the manifold stud kit
Right now I need to go buy a Die grinder so I can cut out the flanges for the turbo precontrol, I think that is what it is called, and hopefully port out the waste gate. Does anyone know if it is better to weld the manifolds flapper open, or if it should be cut out? It is welded right now, but I think I might just get rid of it completely. The only reason I am doing all of this is that the motor came to me nonseq. so I thought I might as well go with it because I really dont want to redo the rats nest lol. After that, I just have to put the accessories on the motor, find some vaccum hosing for a couple of the nipples that I have no clue to where, and then drop the sucker in!! I will be updating this on friday when I head back up to Wilsonville to try and get all of this done in one day... but you all know how that goes.

The best way to maximize the wastegate's effinciency is to port the opening to very near the size of the flapper and allow the flapper to still function and do it's job. If you search the 3rd gen archives you'll find plenty of step by step threads an measurments.
Yeah, I was thinking of following the rotory ressurection step by step where they use paint to show where to port to. I was going to get the specs so I could have a more accurate measurement though.
