I'm not sure about that. I wouldnt want to do that to this hood. I might buy a carbon fiber hood for the purpose of this v-mount setup.

I talked personally with a fd guy that had a v mount. He said that his temps were a lot lower. He custom made a vent though that directed the air into his setup. I am sure that this would work for your setup. Hate hacking up hoods personally...

Well if you want to sell it there are a ton of people that are looking to get their hands on one. But why switch it at all? If you are worried about air flow just block off the hole. I forgot to say that the v-mount os dang sexy!!!! ahhh...

To get any flow through the IC dont you have to cut a hole above it?

When it comes down to it I do not think that you "need" it. I have talked to a 3rd gen guy that says that his car stays extremely cool while driving. Even cooler than the stock setup. I think that as long as the air has some sort of place to escape you will be ok. Since the engine bay is open it should not cause too many problems here in washington.

I am sure that all of you 1st gen guys have seen the red widebody with v-mount setup. He has his hood modified so that the air will flow fairly unobstructed as it travels through the intercooler.

IMO if you are running in wa it would not be too huge of a deal. But since I have not had the setup on my car please do not quote me.

Anyone else have any thoughts about this?

I see how air can come in and through the radiator and down out the bottom. but the IC is like pretty flat against the hood, only a few inches. expecially it being bar and plate. i dont think that air will flow through very easily without a place for it to vent out aboce it. also if there was a recess cut above it, it would be in a neg pressure zone. which would help pull air through the IC as well. I know the IC will act as a large sink any ways. but with boost a fair amount it may become warm or hot and then loose its efficiency withought enough air movement through it. just IMO.

To get the maximum performance out of your IC you need to vent the hood. If you do it right it should look sweet. BTW the vent only needs to be a 1/4 to 1/2 the surface area of the IC.

Hrm, thanks for the information guys. I still don't really want to cut up a T2 hood. I was looking at border racing's hood. It looks sweet and will help my venting issue.
