Need Advice on a new DD

Hey guys. Im looking for a new DD. Someone has offered to sale me there 2000 civic ex for 4000 dollars. It has 120k miles. Only thing this car has done to it is SI rims. SI lip. and lowering springs. Other than that its completely stock. The car is really clean. Should i go for it or get something else. Just sounds like a good deal so i thought i'd get ur guys opinions on whether or not it is. Thanks for any feedback. BTW my current DD is a 1987 Toyota Celica with 247k miles and its a piece.

Buy a Volvo.

No seriously, buy a 95 or 96 850 t-5 sedan or wagon. For the same price or less. Seriously reliable, seriously way more available HP and torque... Seriously cool sleeper. Seriously easy to get to 250-290 HP. Seriously leave clouds of tire smoke wherever you seriously please. Seriously. run 15s. stock. Seriously.

Buy a Volvo.

Sorry guys, i had to do it.

Buy a lexus SC300.... reasonably priced and it has a 2jz. Also maintenance is very cheap which is a big plus for DD.

+1, seriously.
You get way more car for the money - these were $40k when new. Leather, heated seats, tons of cargo space, burlwood trim, headlight wipers (you know you've always wanted them). 13.9 1/4 mile with a chip and exhaust. They are like the anti-rice and chicks love them, seriously.

There will be a couple at the rock this Friday, check them out.

If you want a car that you don't ever have to touch other than changing the oil I personally don't think there is any better car brand than honda. I have a 93 civic and I beat the hell out of the car and it never complains.

The funny part is you've just described volvo maintenance ( for the non enthusiast) but you are right zack.... The H brand does offer a -Beat the hell out out of, never change the oil- and it will still run- attraction.

Regarding the burled wood.... I don't necessarily appreciate a "wood" color, but when its a a dark, almost black color wood, the goth in me really comes, its sexy. Or maybe its just the older crowd whom appreciates it....

Go for the Honda if you want reliability and don't want to surprise anyone.

another option to the civic is an older corolla. civic with any type of mods to it whatsoever is MUCH more likely to get stolen than the volvo or toyota option. as for a beat the hell out of it and only do oil changes, i have a 93 toyota corolla, 187k on it, and i change the oil and sparks when i remember and it still runs like a champ and gets over 30mpg. (btw i last changed oil a year ago, and plugs maybe 8 months ago)

Buy a Volvo! Seriously you can find the 850 T5's for around the same price as the Honda with a multitude of new parts including most of them having rebuilt turbos and mid 100k mil range. Tons of life left in em. I just bought a 98 V70R (same as the 850, newer with a new name) AWD and it's pretty much stock and handles just as well as my FD is is way less likely to be stolen. And Michelle is right... LL Cool V - Ladies love cool Volvos

hansaysso is pretty right - stay away from Hondas.. Don't want it stolen now. ^_- [Though I've heard some Toyota's are pretty popular among thiefs too..]

So, mulder9927's option looks like the best one yet. Though for beat down reliability.. Nissan's the way. [My sister's 95 Altima has 259k, at least two accidents, its original KA24DE and just keeps going..]

Sorry Volvo lovers.. No love from me. ^_-

Though, if I stop and think for a moment... Just keep running the Celica till it dies, I think that'll be cheaper than any of the options!
