WA Nascar Gtus Part 3

Finished the paint and lettering the 3rd week of May and have been racing twice a month. My S5 engine broke an apex seal on Memorial Day at a practice and I've been running with a bone stock 80,000 mile S4 engine until July 19th when I got my S5 engine back and all freshened up.

I won 2 heat races and have a top finish of 5th in a main. Last race with the new engine I ran away and won the heat race but I blew a factory oil cooler line coming back to the pits and my patch job didn't hold when I went out for the main event so I had to spectate.

During the rebuild I was talked into the 3mm apex seals from Atkins but now I'm not sure it was needed. I'm looking for more power but I'm limited by the rules. I need to figure out the best budget route for being able to tune this thing. I'm also getting a 4.77 ring and pinion made for my gtus lsd. Always open for any suggestions or ideas.

Not much time spent on the body this year. I've been hit in all 4 corners already and will have plenty to improve on for next year. I want to put the hatch back on and make a plexi window for it because it really improves the body lines. The doors are aluminum sheet and the window openings are a little low but I'm not a small guy so it makes it easier to get in and out.

We run a spec. wheel and tire. Must run 13" steel wheels and either 22" or 23" diameter Goodyear short track slick that must be purchased through the speedway.

Wow... I can't believe you actually did it.

I bought the GTUs wheels from you like, 8-9 months ago? (I have no idea) , but you actually did turn that car into a "Nascar" racer... Crazy!

just curious, who's doing the custom ring & pinion for you?
I know a bunch of guys that'd like to get gears in the 3.5x-3.8x range for the T2 diff.

Not many races left this year but putting a hatch on with the plexi is on the list for next season, it would look more complete.

I thought ISC Racing in Florida was going to do it but I spoke to Mike on the phone yesterday and he said he doesn't want to do anymore so I'm waiting on a call right now from a local shop that may start doing them. If it happens I'll post all the info.

The car has been alot of fun and it was fun getting to meet several of you guys when you were picking up parts. I look forward to getting to bring the car to an RX7 gathering in the future.
