Well my engine is toast so I can't really use it yet... The car runs but the coolant has made it's way into the oil somehow..... But the Power FC is hooked up and works... Just have to find a way to mount it to my liking......

I saw your post in the PFC section but I thought I would reply here.

Take out the whole stock ECU mounting bracket.

Remount/Hook up the grounds to the chassis, sand some paint off if you have to for a good contact.

Then I just used two sided valcro tape and stuck it to the bottom frame rail.

Then replace the kick panel and call it good. Its worked for me for about 30,000 miles. Not the best/correct way but its easy.

With the commander just route cable out the bottom of the kick panel and have it exit at the start of the lower inner door trim.

Joe

*edit I just saw your other post in the 3rd gen section and I guess everybody has the same idea. Velcro. Good Luck Buddy*

Well I just notched a spot in the bracket so the commander can plug in and velcroed the ECU to the brackets and put it in... It holds plenty tight and all the grounds are still in their original place....

Wonder if there's enough of us PFC guys to get Steve Kan to come up here and do a tuning session?

Steve Kan tuning

I just added a PFC to my car and I definately want to have it optimized. I had considered going up to Vancouver when Steve Kan was up there a couple weeks ago but I want to get a couple other things done before it's ready to be set-up. I'm definately in on this if Kan is brought out.

I could use some time also.
Running through a full tune up, filters, hoses, wires and others.

I might also be interested in this. I talked to another guy that might also be as well. When are we looking at? It would be nice to have a little time so that I can get a few other things in order. Got to make sure that the car is top notch.

^ Yep, Steve does not want to trouble shoot the car while its on the dyno. The car needs to be in top working order. Otherwise we waste his time and our money.

With that being said I have a whole boat load of little maintenance items and bugs that need to be address before I am ready.

A buddy of mine (does not post) just installed a PFC and will need a tune. He is also down to fly Steve out.

I don't mean to take anything away from Steve, but you guys allready have one of the best tuners right in your back yard. Ralph at Groundzero tunes everything from a n/a Rx-7 to 1000+rwhp supra's. (If you don't know Ralph do a search on the amount of power he's putting down in his 7.....pretty impressive.) CJ

What are Ralph's prices? Also does he charge for the use of a dyno? Would he be willing to do a group discount? IIRC he charges per hour.

I don't know what he charges, but drop him a PM or I could scrounge up a number.

Yes, Ralph is located in Portland. CJ

I am running a microtech. I am curious as to if he has much experience with this system. One of the main reasons that I did not bring it down to him was because I was talking to a fabber and he was saying that they did not really like microtechs...Ralph would rather tune a PFC. Shoot me a PM when you find out, I am in no hurry.

Yeah, when Z (I think it was you or maybe it was my other buddy, I can't remember) and I talked we added up the price it was for Steve to come out and the added in the cost of renting a dyno shop for a day, then divided it by the number of people and it was still pretty pricy.

It might be cheaper to just go to Ralph one at a time and easier.

Plus I doubt we can all get our cars ready and stay ready long enough to set something like that up (Fly Steve out).

Also depending on IF (key word there) we can all get our **** together we maybe able to all go down to Ralph and see if he'll cut a club/group rate discount. I don't know.

Right now I'm just thinking out loud and still working on my car. I know they are both very good tunners and I realy don't have a problem with either one doing the tune. I'm just looking at the bottom line and would like to not break the bank on this one if I don't have to.

I'd prefer not driving to Portland and flying Steve out... Intec Racing in Kent rents out there dyno for self-tuning so we could probly work something out with them... Their prices seem pretty reasonable to me......
