Miata Tranny, TII and FB?

i've been doin some research n people have put miata 5 speeds and 6 speeds into fb's. there have was also someone who did miata gears in an fb box. but no one that i could find has done a miata tranny with a turbo 2 into a fb. the reason im wonder is because im hoping to do a TII swap in my fb when summer rolls around and im pretty much a bit of a noob when it comes to fabrication n cutting. so since id have to cut for the TII tranny i was wondering if the miata tranny will work with the 13b and if the starter will work because there is one bolt that differs from i belive that 5spd and the 12a but will that be a problem with the 13b? im still leaninig to just cutting out a couple inches so i can fit the TII tranny in but since i am a noob which one will be more difficult because time is money. it would really help if i could get some input on this cause the sooner i knock out this problem the sooner i can have my FB tII.

You would be light years ahead to use a T2 tranny. They are plentiful and somewhat cheap. You know everything will fit and bolt up. And guess what they tough as hell to. I don't think a Miata tranny will take 400rwhp and 300 torque, Some one correct me if I am wrong about that one. Why bother with a Miata tranny. What do you have to cut for the T2 tranny? ARe you talking about the shifter tunnel. Bring me both of your trannys and I will do the shifter relocation, so it will stay in the stock FB location in the car. I have already done two of them. I will even help you with making a tranny mount using the FB crossmenber and T2 tranny bracket. $100, and your set up to go. I have been using a T2 tranny in my FB for two years, Its the only way to go.

How does it affect your MPH. Does it put you lower in the RPM's on the highway?

Miata 6 speeds are known to blow at 250 whp and the 5 speeds are known to die around 220... Very similar to a 12a tranny.

WOW! thad be amazing! i dont have the engine or tranny yet cause im doin the swap in the summer and for now im just accumulating the parts nessicary to do the swap. yah n i was talkin about the shifter tunnel. the reason i would use a miata tranny is because it is smaller than the tII n i wouldnt have to cut anything, besides im not gonna be running insane hp for a while im keepin is pretty much a stock TII n will probably take off all emisions **** so i heard that will put me around 240 or somethin.

n im not sure how it would effect my speed, im sure id put me at higher rpms on the freeway

The turbo tranny is essentially an adapted truck tranny. Very strong. If you want a 6-speed really the only way to go is to get an RX-8 6-speed. It is stronger than the miata tranny and has the right bellhousing. Of course... $$$$ (like $2k)

S-5 T2 is .719, S-4 T2 is .756 and a FB tranny is .825 for the fifth gear ratios. So you would actually be spinning the motor a little slower with a turbo tranny.
There you go.
