Why not acknowledge the 8? It is a rotary powered car with excellent handling. In stock form it is more than capable of handling its own on the race track and at autocross.

Handle, yes... That's about it.

The reason people don't acknowledge the 8 is cuz 8 owners aren't typically rotary enthusiasts that will acknowledge the 7. Those that are enthusiasts tend to be very cool people. The others tend to be arrogant douchebags.

I guess it just relative to where you are sitting. There has been plenty of times I have said hi or waved to guys in 7's and they just ignore me. I chalk it to the individual being a douche more than anything else.

I'm not trying to make this an 8 vs. 7 thread. I'm just surprised by the majority of the posts in here being so anti 8.

to follow with everyone else's smashing on RX8's, i really have no problem with them.....although i do have a problem with the RX8 owners that don't know wtf their doing or think they have a godly car because its an FR format automobile. i've met my fair share of dick/dumb 7 owners too, but i think its just that since the RX8 is newer and appeals to a larger crowd than a 13+ year old RX7, more idiot consumers just buy them. but w/e the case, i really don't care what car you drive *** long as its not an EVO :]

lol.. I was just thinking something along those lines:
'Maybe most 7 drivers when they were new cars are like most 8 drivers today, just people with cars instead of part of the rotary crew.'

The Possible [and probable] irony amuses me ^_^

Btw.. I don't remember anyone complaining about a lack of power on a 230HP NA rotary until this thread.. <_<
>_> Have I been out of it or something? My NA S4 FC would love to put out even 180HP and get 24MPG, lol...

p.s. people always hate what they cant have.

like when any of us see a 500+ hp civic or integra we always hate on it cuz we're just pissed we cant drive it. and dont try and tell me you wouldnt drive a 500+ hp car just because its a honda!

Sorry but I disagree, and to say "like when any of us see a 500+ hp civic or integra we always hate on it cuz we're just pissed we cant drive it" that's just plain stupid to say that everyone is a hater or jealous just because they don't like a car.

There are a lot of FC's running around Bremerton area right now. I see them all over. But, a lot of them don't know what they have. They just know it is faster then the Hondas that ride around here. Some, I know a lot of them, know what they have and we can talk. But, a lot of the guys around here watch too much initial D and F&F: TD. They just want anything RWD. heh.

I don't hate 500 HP civics. LoL. Understeer rulez! haha. I also love a good wheel hop or two off the line..... can't beat the rattling. Actually when I see a 500 HP civic.... i think, man what a waste of money.

People would usually wave to me, until i left them in the dust, and they figured out it was a v8 under the hood. 1/2 give me thumbs up, the other 1/2 gives me the cold shoulder.

I'm not an owner of an RX anything yet, so I approach and often ask people about their cars. When I talk with the owners, each model seems to be quite unique. The FB and FC owners are the friendliest when it comes to answering questions and come across as true enthusiasts. They don't seem to hold anything back. Most FD owners seem to have a chip on their shoulders, but as you talk with them more they warm up a bit. Most of the 8 owners appear to lack the in-depth knowledge and just bought the car for transportation. I'm sure that will change as the used cars come down in price.

500hp of bump and torque steer? Hit the gas, pull left, hit the brakes, pull right....
yeah im cool..... 500hp fwd cars make me laugh, you'd need to go to the gym all
the time just to be able to drive it straight.....

I too am surprised about the anti RX8. I own an 89 N/A FC, 93 FD and a 07 RX-8 and let me tell you the 8 out handles the FC and FD in the twisties. I wish the 8 had more power but for what it is its great. I don't plan on modifying the 8 at all that’s what the FD is for.
I wouldn’t let the anti 8 haters get too you everybody has an opinion.
I try to wave at any Rotary car that I see on the road which is almost next to nothing.

I did not mean for this to turn into people who drive this car are. Sorry fb, fc, fd and fe.

Besides owning this car the guy I tried to say high to was a dick and made me realize that people like that go around ruining whatever type of car they drive. 8's sorry your getting the worst of this but dont worry a the new 9 is on its way out and then you can bitch too!j/k

The 8's 24mpg isn't bad... [my rebuilt 13B can't do that without a lot of effort :/]
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/calcu...umn=1&id=19485

[The "revised ratings" are a load of crud - with my original engine in my FC, parent's Altima, etc I was always able to do better than the OLD - higher - ratings if I was truly just driving highway..]

I know!
Let's all hate on the new EPA fuel economy ratings instead!!

The 8 gets 24mpg going down will with wind at its back. I get maybe 22 hwy and 16-18 city. My last fill up I got less than 15mpg.
