Just bought a Nissan

Yeah, I saw this 2006 350Z that a guy was selling. It was too good a deal to pass up.

The car isn't nearly as much fun to drive, doesn't look anywhere near as nice, and isn't even close to being as fast. Still, being a Nissan, I'll have more time to spend actually driving it than just working on it.

Stillin SC = fail. Roots blowers will never be as good as the centrifical ones available for the 350z. Plus with the stillin you need a new hood to even put it on...

The car is a great platform, welcome to the Z family=)

Those are nice cars, but they are lacking in many aspects. Best bet one the less expensive side is a new intake manifold, and a full exhaust. I hear that does quite well when on a budget. If you have more money to play with, I would never consider a supercharger for that car. The twin turbo kit seems to work quite well for that engine while keeping drive-ability solid.

Best of luck with the new car!

Hey David,

Congrats on your new car, hopefully you test drove it with your helment on. LOL
Will we see you at the last autox of the season! The 350z are wicked fast with race rubber on the course.

congrats, the z is equipped with a very good engine and responds to mods nicely, besides the amazing stock exhaust sound it feels gutless in 3rd-6th gears tho. Who cares the most fun happends in 1st/2nd

Congrats David. Thats a Bstock car if you keep it that way which is quite a decent index considering how much horsepower it has. There are a couple guys who have them street prepared and they are incredibly fast.

'06 Grand Touring Coupe. Yeah, it has the same factory Brembos as the track or NISMO. Found a guy that needed to sell it quick and got what I think was a GREAT deal on it.

Plenty! That was a real selling point. I can just fit with a helmet.

No mods for the time being and I'd never go FI. After driving the 3rd gen, I don't think either a blower or turbo will ever make the Z as much fun. Wish I had an '07 or '08 with the HR motor, but again for the price, this was a deal.

I'm going to try to make it to the last one. I've got a ton of things going on right now with elderly in-laws, business, professional commitments etc... but my plan is to autocross the car. One of the reasons I'd like to keep it stock is to be able to keep it in class. The next step will be to see if I can justify some decent rubber for autocross. However, like the RX-7, the weakest link will be the driver for a long time.

Yeah, but I wouldn't have gotten any shorter. Or maybe I would have with my head eventually being driven down between my shoulder blades.

Boring Z

David, I think you said you're about 6'2" or something like that right? A friend of mine is 6'3" and after seeing him in my passenger seat this last weekend, I can totally see why you wanted a car with more head room. For me, it's perfect but for someone who's that tall, it's way too uncomfortable.

My friend had to sit hunched down hahahhaa

I, on the other hand, feel like I need a booster seat sometimes.

You're not THAT short.

Back in college I dated a girl that was about 4' 11". It was rather comical actually.

Booo! haha, just kidding. Hence my name.

I assume that it would be a lot more fun with a twin turbo kit. Congrats on the purchase.

Grats on the car! One of my Nissan friends was trying to get me into a 350 or a G35 for ages while i was looking at FDs. they are fun cars, and are pretty similar to a stock FD in terms of speed. Not too sure about handling, but I'm fairly certain they are pretty close.

Also, I bet being 6'2" you can appreciate the steering wheel adjustments and legroom on the Z

I know I'm not that short, but one drive "in my shoes" and you would know what I mean. =]

Good friend of mine is 4'10" and in the Marines! lol..

Also, I don't know if you watch the tv show Heroes but this badass chick drives a 350z and I'm sure that show will definitely add some value to that car.

Kinda like The Italian Job did for the Mini Cooper.
