Well if the judge gets pissed off enough he could issue a bench warrant and have you arrested and brought before the court to face a contempt charge.Where he could put you in a cell or fine you.

Also check with your boss. Because some companies pay their worker to serve on a jury. My wife got called this year and her company paid her full salary while she was gone.

How lucky is that. You get to do you civic duty and send someone to jail. Nice.

When you are being questioned as a potential juror act crazy, pick your nose do whatever or tell the attorney asking the questions you are an equal opportunity hater - you hate everyone equally. They will more than likely dismiss you. I will never ever sit on another jury after enduring two trials where both ended in a hung jury. Talk about evilness and misery! If I have to I will pretend I hear voices and pick my nose.

I believe you are a very very wise person Your two for two in my book lol. Luckily I didn't have to endure that and ended up getting a free day off because of it. I think the county actually paid me as well for my time....can't remember now. I will do my dumb and dumber impersonation next time I get called!

What happends when people who don't speak english well get them? Or when the mailman delivers it to the wrong address? These aren't sent certified mail and no signature required. I don't know of anyone being locked up or fined for not responding to a jury letter. Enough old people want to do them they fill up the jury pool fast enough

It used to be only registered voters were called for jury duty but no they use the driver's license list. When I was called for jury duty everyone was given a stern lecture by the Judge that it was our civic duty and he didn't care what the excuse was and if it was work related, he would put your name on the list for the next group of people called to jury duty. I doubt the courts would really enforce the contempt charges because there are more important things law enforcement needs to focus on besides playing hooky for jury duty. But you never know when a judge is going to make a point and you don't want it to be you. So, like I said earlier, go and pick your nose or scratch your butt. . . .

When it comes to old people sitting on jurys, would you want a bunch of old people deciding your fate if you were the one on trial? I know I wouldn't because they are more likely to convict based on opinions that are as bizarre and you picking your nose!
