i hate cops...
i was driven down the street yesteerday, goin about 43 in a 35 goin to work, and i see this stupid *** undercover blue tinted window charger or magnum..think it was dodge cop goin the other way, so i slow down a tad..he passses and i watch in the rear view, he keeps driven so im like cool, he gets about another 5 seconds away and by this time hes about 2-3 football fields away, then all of a sudden hes like....IM GOIN GO PICK ON THAT GUY! flips a u turn, and pulls my *** over im like ARE YOU SERIOUS! being that far away and he just had to turn around....so im fightin my first ticket and since i got my first ticket for 10 over on the freeway to get around someone to get off the freeway on an exit.....if that dont get dropped and i get both of these tickets....i might have to get rid of the car...I think its stupid how cops stereo type people driven nice cars..
There's always a few that like to pull out the "so what, you were speeding..." line of reasoning. I'd like to see how you'd react to that line of reasoning if I were a cop and I sat on your street every day and busted you for going 26 in a 25. There is a point at which it's worth it to bust a U turn and chase someone down... 43 in a 35 isn't it.
Cops pick on sports cars more often than they pull over boring cars because they have stereotypical views of the drivers or they are jealous of them and wanna ruin their day. I bet you wouldn't have been bothered if you were in a dodge minivan with a "My kid made the honor roll at XXX high school" sticker slapped proudly on the back. Seriously, find some actual crime to go after instead of busting speeders, Mr. Cop.
Anyhow, go to court, fight it ... always.

He wasn't going one mile an hour over a 25 mph limit - he was going eight over a 35 mph limit. 35 mph limits are usually in residential or light business areas and 43 seems real quick to people when you are passing a few feet from them - or worse yet their kids. I've been driving 30 to 40 thousand miles a year for many, many years. The general rule of thumb is that the police won't ever bother to pull you over for 4 mph or less over, so there is room to make a small mistake. Above that, and all I can say is "don't speed and you won't get tickets". One other point - even if you want to get on here and whine about it, which most people don't mind, you might try to at least write in a coherent fashion. You deserve a ticket for illiteracy more than you do for speeding.
As for sports cars being pulled over more often because of stereotyping? I've got a close friend who is an actuary for an insurance company. They sit around all day and statistically figure out the risk of insuring different demographic groups. Sports cars are predominantly owned by young males. Affordable sports cars ( read "cheap") are almost exclusively owned by young males. Young males are vastly overrepresented among those who have large numbers of tickets and avoidable accidents. Stereotypes are developed for a reason, and this one is richly deserved. The police couldn't give a damn about "interesting" cars, just ones that are likely to be breaking the law. As for officers being "jealous" of you? Most police officers these days get payed really well - they can afford a nicer sports car than you can and the screening process and training most of them go through weeds out the psychos and losers. For the most part they are decent people, although most are pretty serious straight arrows. If you are a young man, or anyone with a low buck sportscar, the best way to fight stereotypes is to quit proving they are true.

well im not perfect either haha.... i speed all the time, i at least refrain from speeding in residential ares, but in other areas i do....
yeah it sucks when they bust ya,ive had several tickets... but its expected that if you speed eventually u will be in the wrong area when the wrong cop is watching, and voila u get pulled over!
PICKING ON YOU is when they pull you over for no reason at all, such as " your car apeared suspisious" or "your tail light looks pink instead of red" some bs like that
in your case you were obiously breaking a law going 8 over, which sucks! but hey fight it u can get it reduced at least or somethin

There are such tight regulations on probable cause these days, that they also rarely pull anyone over unless they have a really legitimate reason to do so. They used to just go to the most violent bar in the area and run the tags on every car in the parking lot. When they found one associated with someone who had an outstanding warrant they just waited until he came out and popped him as soon as he pulled out of the lot. The major way that warrants/wants/violators find there way to jail is by being in a car that gets pulled over for some other reason. As a law abiding member of the community, I really have no problem with that. It doesn't affect people who don't have anything to hide.

Point of story (**** point of life)... cops are dicks. I had one throw me around for no ******* reason, I still dream about meeting that son of a bitch being off duty. Oh and that "you're still speeding" bullshit, can it mom.
funny thing is i've gotten more tickets in my mini vans than in my rx. no reason to hate cops, just deal with it. you know you were speeding. fight it and hopefully ythe cop will fill something out wrong or not file within 48 hours.

The one thing I dislike about minor speeding tickets, is that it cost you more money to take the day off work and fight it. And on top of that you usually only get 20.00 shaved off the fine so you still have to pay. I've only had this happen once to me (Not in an RX-7) but I was only going 4 MPH over, it was total bullshit.
There is always going to be a badge heavy police officer that has it out for fast cars, just as there will always be some dumb kid out there in his car thinking it is fast giving the rest of us a bad name.
Helpful hint: Be respectful, but not timid. Police officers are just normal people (regularly) that are trying to do their job, you can't hate on them for that.
Helpful hint 2: the **** cops that "poach" normally sit in the same place day in and day out, watch and learn their patterns and "speed smart" slow down around blind corners, and downhill grades, they love those places and those are the easiest places to bust dumb kids in their hondas.

I understand the frustration. It felt like he waited way too long to come after you. Sometimes they need time to make a decision. If he was using a speed computer, he may have needed to drive to a particular point to determine how fast you were going. Or maybe he was listening to a conversation deciding whether he needed to go join some chase or other, and it turned out he didn't. However, you were speeding. I'm guessing it's not the first time. Hell, I speed a lot. Next time I get a ticket I'll definitely deserve it. Last time I got pulled over, I knew what was coming and that I'd more than earned it. I didn't admit any specific wrong doing, but I was pleasant and respectful, and the officer let me go. Next time I actually get a ticket, despite deserving it, I'll still fight it. At the very least I'll hopefully get it reduced. Best case it'll get dismissed. If I wind up paying the whole darned thing, I'll have to be content, 'caused I've earned a whole lot more tickets than I've gotten.
Is speeding in and of itself dangerous. Of course not. If it were, we'd all die instantaneously at 100mph. That's a completely different issue, though.

jeez didnt want everyone to get all worked up about it lol. heres the thing, the locals know. college st is a busy street it is a main street in lacey. another thing is NO one goes 35 on college and i was not going any faster than the cars around me. im not some speed happy kid that thinks his cars fast and has to flaunt that all the time. i too like to go fast, i like fast cars, but i also have respect for the places that i do it, freeways i match everyone else im hardly in the fast lane and would rather sit behind someone and crank teh music and "drive" but late nights empty roads of course i will have my fun. im not sayin im not guilty for speedin, laws are laws bullshit or not,but when your one out of the crowd of many doing the same speed you are, and your the one that sticks out. theres laws and theres common laws ya know. 5 mph over speed limit is generally ok on city roads, 10 on freeways generally ok right? im sure im not the only guilty one of that.
im not gonna fight this one, im one of the most honest people you could meet, hence admitting i was speeding i dont think will get me any where if i were to fight it, ill just get it deferred and hope for a year that no other cop decidedes to pick on me. lol. i think i should stayed out in the country though i get alot more cop action out here. another thing is my dad and i work on old cars, challenger r/t, elcamino ect , we take them out for fun on the road but cops always sit there and watch lol, weve never been pulled over in the classics, but imports all the time. my dad drives a crx and that thing is bone stock and he gets pulled over all the time i the dang thing. I dont know i like hearing other peoples storys. and about the beach, I took my honda out there last year and was having fun, and the cops on the beach didnt do anything
i think thats a bogus law, i dont understand how it could even be considered a freeway :P but i do understand if people are around not too, common sense right? But empty beaches why not? lol.

still fight it. i'vd gotten out of 3 out of 4 in the last 2 years. it doesn't matter if you are guilty, what matters is if the officer does everything by the book. and chances are if you got pulled over on college ( which you should know not to speed on especially by the school, same goes for pacific and ruddel) he probably got a few others and might slack on the paperwork.
