I was driving on 1st AVE last night and I wanted to take a left. The whole road was non left turns from Cherry Street, heading south. Since it was Saturday at 3 in the AM, someone told me that you can take a left at those lights since it's not busy during a certain time of night. SO I DID,
.
A cop saw me, he was pretty nice about it however, I forgot to put my recent proof of insurance card in my saturn, all I had was the proof of insurance for my FD. I was slapped with a $538 no proof of insurance, but he said it'll be dismissed if I have proof that I had insurance at the time of infraction, and I was slapped with a $101 for failure to obey sign.
I have a fairly clear driving record, my last and only ticket was in July of 2004 up in Mt. Vernon for doing 85 in a 70 on my streetbike. I got it deferred automatically since it was my first ticket.
I was wondering, do I get an automatic deferral since it's my first ticket in the skagit county area this time? or does my ticket from over a year ago still count against me from a different county?

I'm pretty sure you can only have one deferral in every like 7 years or so... Meaning, even though your first ticket was "automatically" deferred, it would still be considered a deferral...
Did you pay the $100 or so 'deferral fee' the first time?

eriksseven is correct, 1 deferral every 7 years. You might be able to swing it by the judge. Explain to him that you got lost in Seattle and were trying to find your way back to I5. Since it was so late at night you didn't notice the sign.

Yes you can only defer one ticket every seven years, but from your court date when you choose to defer the speeding ticket you cannot have any moving violations for one year or else the ticket you defered and the one you just got you will have to pay off plus you lose that 150$ deferal fee and they go on your record.
This is the senerio I'm in right now I got a neglegent driving ticket this past February and I defered it because
Neg Driving ticket + 19 years old = Fucked on Insurance forever
now I am in the process of buying a valentine 1 just to be safe so in five years I can buy the third gen I have always wanted with a clean record.

Felt like I was flying!
My highest speed was 184 mph, several years ago, just outside Reno. I really felt like I was flying -- in fact, I was! Didn't get a ticket, but if my insurance company had known I was in the Reno air races, I think they would have canceled me!!
I remember a sign in the pits that said:
Faster Airplanes - Younger Women - Older Whiskey - More Money
My comments were that my airplane is fast enough, I don't care how old the whiskey is, and I have enough money.

I'm glad I have insurance on my bike because I took out a Mini Cooper S a few weeks back scoping out Larison Rock Hillclimb road. Did about $9,000+ damage to his car and about $4,300 to mine. I used the check that I got to pay off most of the loan.
I know some of you will be shaking your heads, but hey I know all of you have done at least one stupid thing in your life that you barely missed certain death from. So save it.

You're really just lucky that you waited more than a year to get that next ticket. If you had gotten it last month then that deferral on your first ticket would have gone away and they would both being on your record instead of just the one.
Dude I would totally get a lawyer to handle it. The judge will probably lower the ticket, but not take it away. My lawyer runs $200 per ticket, but he's damn good and literally wins 99% of his cases. Meaning he gets the ticket completely removed, which is even better than getting it deferred. Sure, it'll set you back $200, but if you even just get your ticket lowered, you'll pay out of your *** for insurance for the next 3 years!
