how to remove glue from plastic?? also tar questions...

ok i am tearing the vynel and foam off of the top of the dash... so its just black plastic undernieth.... and in alot of places i got quite alot of glue residue!!

whats a safe chemical that wont mar the black plastic undernieth but make it easy to remove... cause scraping it with a paper towel over a puddy knife is taking FOREVER lol

im also planning on removing the tar from the inside, whats a good way to remove that junk???

check the label, but i believe goof off is safe for plastic. try some rubbing alcohol also( on a small spot first and let dry to see if it dulls the plastic). but also if you rub some fast orange on it with a rag that should get it off and be safe at the same time. you can also do the old cheaper blow drier trick. that should heat the sticky up enough to rub off. even some real hot water will work ok. if you'r gonna repaint it use paint thinner or even something stronger, but it will dull the surface if not painting. good luck.
