how much power is too much
how much power is too much
so i have an 85 gsl. in the summer i'll be swappin a jdm s5 tII motor in and i got a buncha stuff to make it work in the car. my biggest concern as of now it the rear end. im wondering how much power will the stock rear will hold up to and for how long. im hoping to be a lil higher than stock power and id be nice to be have around 220 so let me hear what u think
750HP before you open the NOS bottles...
I overheard of an FD putting 750rwhp down at GroundZero...it had 2 gigantic Nos bottles in the back and the 750 number was without the NOS....
Anway sorry I am no help, but +1 can't have too much HP
I would imagine (uneducated guess) the back end is good to atleast 250 ft/lb of torque.
Good luck finding an answer!

stock gsl will handle around 400. always depending on how well they are in the first place. hopefully soon we will be testing that hp rating on a stock gsl-se rear end. so you have nothing to worry about.

well this car is going to be a daily driverish kind of a car, like it is now. but its a bit of a weekend warrior, i like to autocross it in the spring and hopefully i'll be able to take it out to some drift events so i'll be running street tires mostly (probably crappers) or autocross tires at best if i have the cash.
400hp!!! wow thats ridic!
i'll need a lil more inscentive than that sterling. how bout u let me take ur car out to a gymkhana and i'll pay for the entry if u pay for the gas? eh eh, cmon!

Trust me you wont break anything running "crappers", you actually have to hook up to start breaking things, I would know I am on my third rear end, all LSD's, this one I actually welded additional bracing along the housing, and as you can see, it still likes to twist up the splines,
