For my car i need to take the UIM off with the rats nest and take the injector signal lines off. before i can pull the engine. but i see people puting engines in and taking them out with everything still on. how is that?

you pull the wiring harness from the ecu and push it through the fwall into the engine compartment. i think that haynes has a good write up (at least that is what i gave my kid to follow when he pulled his motor, and that is how he did it)
pick up a rx7 haynes manual, its pretty cheap for the info.

+ its easier to take the rest of the **** off when it is out

i dont like to do it that way just because it makes the engine SOOO much more bulky. ANd the manifolds can be taken off in like 20 minutes anyway...

hey, when you are using a '49 hyster as an engine hoist, bulky dont mean ****!
(except thta the forks are a tad too short and the first couple inches are pretty hairy)

Yep, Thats how I and a few of my buddies just pulled an S5 motor. The car was totaled and I just wanted the motor. Cut the harness and multiple others, we had the tranny and the motor out pretty quickly.

However done this way makes it pretty much impossible to reinstall.

Should've tried to keep the harness, especially if it was a TII. I sold an average condition s5 n/a harness for 30 + shipping a while back, TII harnesses can go for 80-100 + shipping easy. Plus if you're sneaky you can fairly simply convert the s5 n/a harness to an s5 TII harness with a couple changes, then sell it for more.

^it was just an NA. I didn't want to go through the trouble for $30. Although I had no idea you could convert it and sell it for more. That would have been worth while, damnit Joe!

I will be selling the injectors, manifolds, and others off the motor once I start stripping it down.
