Hot Start Blues....

So heres the deal, this car is not my daily driver and i keep her in the garage. But, i like to take her out on sunny winter days and it hardly ever wants to hot start anymore. The car is running on the cool side and has a strong idle and cold starts like a dream every time i start it up. Ive changed the plugs and wires recently and would like to know if theres anything i should do or try before i give up all hope and yank the motor. Keep in mind it has 140k and i cant guarantee a rebuild so i assume it never has. its all stock no mods just would like to know of any last resort to get it to hot start before i build a new motor.

Take the fuel injectors out and have them cleaned, theres a guy in bothell you can ship them to who has a 2 day turn around. http://www.witchhunter.com/
Hot start issues can be traced to a few issues, one of which is leaking injectors... this should help.

1. Check the compression first.

2. This was my problem. The ecu has 3 power inputs, one is key on, engine cranking, which pulls up a different fuel map only when starting the car. My car was so bad, if I stopped for gas it wouldn't restart. Started up perfectly when cold though. So I read the schematic, found the wire that carries 12 Volt postive to the ecu when cranking and put a toggle switch on it.

When the car is warm flip the switch off, to open the circuit, no power to the ecu to signal cold motor, add lots of fuel. Car starts right up, switch on car no starty. The only detriment is nothing. That totally fixed my problem until I went full standalone, using the same motor.

Hope that helps.

Thanx im gonna compression test it and then clean the injectors. if that doesnt work i'll try the toggle switch.
