Hey T2 guys

Got a favor to ask..

Can you take these measurements for me? A1, A2, B1, B2?

And also, the height change between the edge of the intercooler and the firewall and the alternator bracket?

I'd appreciate it ^_^
Thanks!

A1 is about 14.25"
A2 is about 8.75"
B1 and B2 are both between -2.75 and -3

not sure what you ment for the other mesurment but the top of the intercooler is about 3" higher than the alternater.

Hope this helps

I still don't really understand. do you want the distance between alt braket and the fire wall or somthing differant? I can swing by where we meet up for the rotard meets on saturday at about 12:15, and you can do any mesurments you need. I'm heading to barneys and then bob and rob's shop to pick up parts.

I edited the pic to make sure you noted that they were negitive numbers.

Sorry I must be explaining it poorly >_<

I'm trying to figure out how high the top parts of the intercooler are from the block, so I was planning on using the alternator bracket and the firewall as reference points. [as in, the distance between the top of the firewall and the top of the intercooler's sealing point with the hood - just the vertical distance not the diagonal]

Where are the Sat. meets? I haven't been to one since they were at the Sonic's in Hillsboro [not sure if I can meet you out there or not.. Might be working a side job]

No meets on saturday, the rotard meets, We've met at the JOE's parking lot near brigeport when we where going to The Rotards meets this summer. since thats near you. I think I understand what you want. I'll be right back. but If you want to do the mesurments yourself We can meet on saturday when I'm driving up to salem and albany.

Hey do you have a garage? If so I can give you a hand (figure your doing a T2 swap) and we would have a T2 near by for referance. I want to eventually do a T2 FB. But could I possably use it for a few hours to swap my turbo. I hate working in the cold. and my turbo's bearing are shot. spools sometimes, others not so much, now its squeeling sometimes. I have to do this asap.

Intercooler is flush with top of firewall. maybe half a cm shorter. wouldn't fit under a NA hood thats for shure. alternater braket is probably the same as a NA the intercooler is recessed for alternater.

Ohhh!
lol... ^_^" Now I know what you mean. I'll let you know about saturday.

Not quite... My real purpose is to figure out if there's any way to use a T2 hood on an NA and use the scoop as a cold air intake. From what you've told me so far, it sounds like it'd be hard..

I've got a single car space in my garage, but I hardly have any tools.. By which I mean to say: Yes we can use my garage ^_^ But you'll have to bring your tools.. [and I'll have to get a bit of free time..]

Oh, and I may wish to see your T2 sometime soon for reference..
hehe...

cold air intake would be hard, but possable if you used a T2 intake, but I don't know how that would run in NA, but you could just hook a cone filter right there, but I don't think you could fit the maf. It would blow cold air onto the intake reducing temps some. I'd do the headlight duct with a cone filter, and swap the plastic for some aluminum pipe. you can find the intake aluminum at autozone.

Nawww. I hate how the headlight ducts look. [Especially compared with how nice a T2 hood looks ^_- ]

Though that sounds like a good idea [just fitting a cone up into the intake..]

I was hoping I could fit the stock bottom half of the airbox in with the filter clipped down.

Anyway.. This is a pretty far off project at the moment. Gotta fix a couple things on the main cars..

WAYYYYYY too much work for what you will get. I just bent my hood up behind the headlight. I know you won't want to do that but the clearance is so small between the hood and the engine and has to make way too many turns.

NO!

NinjaGUYdan>> Ahh, I was wondering about that. Though I don't really expect any performance gains from it I still think it would be kinda cool to have a true, stock looking [from the outside at least] CAI.
So too shallow of an area for it to accelerate downwards before it makes a 90deg turn and then a 180deg turn? Or is 270deg of turning just too much?

lol that's probably it.. If I used a stock airbox the added turns would probably offset any benefit of having colder air. Hm.. If a cone would fit between the throttle body and the hood it'd only have a 180deg turn..

They sell intake bends and pipes at alot of auto parts stores. there under 10 bucks apeice, and then you must buy a few couplers. but they come with clamps to conect to eachouther. I'm using a 45* bend with some holes dremeled through for vacuum line and stock BOV.

The best you can really do is to keep heat away from the original air intake itself. Fab up a heat shield over your exhaust manifold and heat wrap your intake. Even if you did a cold air intake it would be re-heated by the exhaust manifold anyway before it got to the throttle body.
