What is it doing?

Have you checked:

1. For vacuum leaks?
2. TPS is good?

I know these are simple and most likely you have done this, might as well start from square one though

A wandering idle is typically due to an incorrectly set TPS, but then again 1500 RPM's is like the Bermuda Triangle of Rx7 idle trouble-shooting.

The problem with the s5 vs. an s4, is that most people just strip the UIM and other nonsense to eliminate any and all idle variables... The s5 you can't (shouldn't) do this...

It's likely that your thermowax throttle-linkage assembly is stuck (hence the 1500 RPM idle), which is pretty normal. Then again, your BAC will totally f**k with you if you are trying to set the idle/TPS and not grounding the inital set-coupler by the battery. Also, you will need to use the TPS two-lamp method for setting the TPS--instead of the better IMO use of a multi-meter like on an s4.

Chances are, setting a *perfect* idle might be next to impossible, but you can probably get it pretty close by messing with both the tiny throttle-plate set screw/jam-nut on the front of the UIM and the idle-adjust screw on the top of the UIM. Just make sure any changes you make are done with the initial set coupler grounded--to make sure your BAC doesn't f**k with you.

To anyone trying to help.... and to clarify, its not that car isn't idling correctly. Its that its doesn't idle at ALL..... like, anything but foot on the gas and revving or is just dies. we've tried to set the idle manually be adjusting the nuts on the cable, and successfully got it to idle all on its wittwle own self ( AT 2000rpm) but then you go drive it and its silly S5 self resets the idle to like 4000..... In addition, the other part that wasn't mentioned was that this started immediately after porting and rebuild ( and being a pill to start) .... Poor little rotors never had a chance. .......... now help!

Yo Bizzle, sorry for not being proactive about the idle-help/hood sale. I've been busy and frustrated with other Rx7 nonsense--so I just haven't had time to be like, helpful.

I wish we lived a bit closer--just cause it's a trek either way... If you have a day off, just let me know. The weekend is hard cause there's so much other junk to catch up on...
