God damn

I'd have to give it all up for the chance to drive this car. I'd give my business, wife, home all three kids....my unit....welllllll my left nut at least. How amazing would this be? I am confident that should the owner let me drive this car, not only would I bring it back in one piece, but the video would prove worthy... damn! My FC is fast, but...damn. Sorry. Just had to share this one!!

Yeah, what did they build..... 29 of those? And you had to be invited by Ferrari to have the opportunity to buy one.... and it's a non street legal prototype..... Still, if I was a multimillionair I would have a hard time not buying one.

It is a derivative of the Enzo that uses some advanced F1 technology. You would have to be SERIOUSLY rich to get into one. If you are a known Ferrari owner you are allowed to purchase one, but you don't get to take it home. It remains in the factory's hands forever. It is transported to special owners events by Ferrari and supported by their race mechanics. You fly in, drive it at some pretty spectacular world class and legendary tracks, and fly out again, and the boys take it back to the factory for impeccable maintenence. There is technology in the car that is advanced enough that Ferrari doesn't want it's competitors to get their hands on one to reverse engineer - like the sequential gearbox and it's associated software. And even though I don't believe in getting into stupid "my Honda is faster than your Subaru" type of pointless arguements, I seriously doubt that your personal affinity for Saleen cars would allow them to compete with this particular Ferrari. Saleen is doing some pretty impressive things these days, and absolutely no knock to them, but the two will likely NEVER be on the same racetrack and I doubt your prediction would come true if it did. On the other hand, perhaps I am giving your opinion less consideration than I should because it is hard to take anyone seriously that doesn't have the good sense to at least take a stab at proper spelling, puntuation, and capitalization.

"I am confident that should the owner let me drive this car, not only would I bring it back in one piece, but the video would prove worthy" - Quotes like this speak for themselves. It seems that nearly everyone on this forum is sure they would be the next world champion if someone handed them the proper car, but perhaps they should throw the curtains open and let the harsh light of reality shine in for just a moment. The driver in the video doesn't look exceptionally talented, but has reasonably good reactions and makes all of the right corrections at the right times. It appears at least a couple of times that he whacks the throttles open to break the tires loose on purpose. The power comes on so brutally quickly and in such huge amounts that it looks like it would be a handful just to keep on the track. This car was built with tracks like Monza and Spa in mind, with long high speed blasts swallowed up by all that horsepower. Low speed point and shoot like in the video is just an opportunity for the gobs of torque to overcome the traction of the rear wheels exiting low speed corners and pitch the car sideways into the bushes. This is definitely NOT the car for the inexperienced. It is considerably more potent than the street legal Enzo and Porsche Carrera GT and those are already being totalled at an alarming rate while maiming and killing their drivers who are sure the only qualification needed for driving them is a fat wallet. Yes, its really a cool car but for a normal driver it would not only be like jumping into the deep end but also having the water boiling and full of sharks and pirahna.

Well. You sure sound like a guy with an opinion. I'd take your comments seriously if you had any knowledge of my driving style or abilities. Since you do not then well, kiss my ***. Let's break this down..

"I am confident that should the owner let me drive this car"
If...if if if if if.....IF. We all know that would never happen.

"not only would I bring it back in one piece"
I didn't say how many one pieces!

"but the video would prove worthy"
No matter how the drive went, good or bad, the video would be worthy to someone!

I do agree that people get in over their heads and drive high performance cars way too fast and in turn hurt themselves and others around them. If a person was to obtain such a high performance machine, I believe the manufacturer should offer a suitable driving class to help with the transistion into a high powered/ high speed cornering car. How about you learn how to use the brakes before going 180 hmmm? I see high end cars on the track every session and I see how they are driven. It never seems quite right that a little FC can hand a guy in a Ferrari 350 his *** on the track..especially when the little FC is running on a new base map for the first time.

Very few FC's can "hand a Ferrari it's ***" in any situation, if you are talking modern cars. I'm only casually knowledgable about Ferrari, so I have to profess ignorance as to exactly what a Ferrari 350 is. I know that we had a Ferrari 360 challenge car show up at one of our regional races a couple of years ago in the hands of a novice and perform respectably against tube framed GT-2 and GT-3 cars. I can't imagine many tub based FC's reaching that level without costing close to what the Ferrari did!

Obviously, you got your feelings hurt because you feel I impugned your driving abilities. That was not really my intent, especially since we might even see each other at the track if you are so inclined. I race, drive, and instruct right in your backyard. My point is that most of the people I come into contact with who are into cars and are making a step into high performance driving get way to wrapped up in bigger/better/faster. It isn't so much about how fast your car is, but more about exploring and expanding the limits of your skills as a driver. For what it is worth, you (and probably I as well) would have more fun at the local tracks driving a well set up Pinto to it's limit than tiptoeing around in a million dollar, carbon fiber, 800 horsepower death missle trying not to kill ourselves! If I thought that I could get a fully sponsored ride in one and someone else would be paying the bills, then yes I would be lined up right there with you - but driving a car like that is SERIOUS work and going fast in something like that has a very real risk, both monetary and physically. How much track time do you do?

Don't worry , my feelings aren't hurt! Oh, and I do have in car video to prove that I took the F car at P.I.R. It was great, he wasn't that good of a driver first off... I worked him for a few laps, pasted him onto the straighaway and as I shifted into third coming out of the festival chicane my motor threw an apex seal....whole. Then I putted like a beat goat around the entire track and onto the flatbed. I have the motor on my shop floor right now and really want it back in b4 Feb. We'll see. As soon as I'm done with the install I am taking it out to Ralph to have him tune it properly. I stepped up to 3mil seals this time also...hopefully it will be stronger. I've done a couple dozen track days, and lots ot karting.

Quit your bitchin! The F60-FXX is cool, but I still think the F40-F40LM is a better, rather, more pure sports car. Much better looking at least.\
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YPabCzxMXM&eurl=

Additional info. Ferrari made 31 FXX 1 black one #30 in production that was given as a gift to Michael Schumacher. You don't have to store it at Ferrari, but it is an option for the owners. There is no way someone is going to spend 1.7 million US dollars and not get to take it home. Plus it's hardly the ultimate supercar. The McClaren F1 is faster as well as all the Konigsegg's and the Bugati Veyron. Plus there is a new American super car in contention for the fastest production car the others are street legal, unlike the FXX.

I read the original offering and it was quite specific about them living at the Ferrari factory. I wonder if that changed at some point?

I'll preface by saying that I find the Enzo, and it's derivitve the FXX, over designed, mired with too much electronic gadgetry, and plain old butt ugly to boot, but damn! He was passing those Porsches like they were city busses, and that's evan more impressive considering his absolutely appaling driving technique! I'm not saying I'd do any better, or evan close to that well, in an FXX, but I also don't drive one and that was almost painful. If not for all the electronic aids in that car, he'd probably have totaled it nine or ten times over. Would it be excessive for me to repeat that cliche about the ability of the driver being inversely proportial to the price of the car?

A simple google search would have revealed that Rex-Rotary is a company that makes bussiness printers. I would have looked for more information, but it was mind numbing boring. Funny name though. Probably the people who own it wouldn't know an RX-7 if it fell on them.
