fuel starvation on fb

anyone go non filtered before the fuel pump? I run two fuel filters one before the pump and a glass filter before the carb. I feel the stock filter is not doing the job. any suggestions as to what works better than the stock pi$$*** filter before the pump?
getting a little tired of lean pulls and doing engine damage. gotta get this sorted out. thanks for the replys and what is going to work the best.

Joe

btw i am running the walbro pump and 3/8 line feed.

I use the large Summit racing canister filter. I'm sure you could get away with using one of those with brass nipples instead of the AN ones.

found the fuel pump has no volume out put and running at half speed. took it apart last night, it is done, totally trashed. just ordered a replacement through racing beat. No one in the area could source one for me........strange huh, oh well, will be one road again soon blazing tires. my order was for the mallory 70 gpm pump, this should do the job well enough.

btw looking into the inline canister as you suggested. thanks man you are always a great source for helpful hints.

woo hoo

well after so time analizing and contemplating what to do, cleaned up the armature, cut the slot in the brush holder to allow the brushes to contact the armature, cleaned up the rotor and housing in the lower of the pump and gave it a test.
running at full speed, kind of noisey but producing pressure now. was a little lower than before the failure but.........upped the regulator to 3 psi and went of a drive. Oh man we are back in action, running a little soft so not going to push is just drive to work and back till new pump comes first of the week. I am so happy right now. Really hate ridding the bike in the rain.

awaiting new parts................again

the sogga continues.........in the next episode we will see how the NEW fuel pump works on the engine and how it will effect the tune.

stay tuned for updates

fuel starvation

thanks na,
felt good to drive her last night. New engine is running great, a full week on the motorcycle was nice but i like to stay dry haha. pump is really noisey now but working.all is good, just hope the new pump is in stock and shows up on time.I will update after the new pump is in and a retune is done.

I thought the pump might be a problem with my tune as the a/r number would change day to day. I really enjoy the carb tuning side of things, the innovate wide band has been a lot of help in taking the guess work out of the equasion.

looking forward to the next meet with everyone. By then I should have everything sorted out. Rotary cars make life interesting, as well as keep us busy, as if life is not busy enough. see ya all soon.

were you running on a 84 gs pump?? i know my dell wanted more...with just a 12a...it would go lean near the top cuz the pump couldn't keep up..to solve the problem..i did a gsl-se fuel pump, tank and hard line swap...cuz the hard lines are bigger and help the fuel return...
