The FD Restoration - $$$$ Damnit
#177
Alright got the Trailing arm bushing pressed in, but still trying to decide on which set to use. I also got some new goodies from Adrenaline Racing http://www.adrenalineracing.com/, Tein EDFC version 2.0 and Tein hood dampeners.
While getting the underbody cleanup I noticed that the drive side sway bar mount had a few cracks, unfortunately it can be fixed with a weld and grind. This was caused by the stock sway bar mount being hit by a large roll a long time ago...man that was a long time ago...anyways I have an upgraded mount that tied into the engine cradle with a cross bar so this crack although not ideal isn't a show stopper.
The more you look a car the more you find wrong with it.

Thanks Smokin, I'm really interested in the difference in handling with your delrin kit.

Finished sealing and painting the underbody, Capt. Bobbo spent most of the weekend trying to make my old intercooler look'n pretty for the new image conscious owner whoever they are.
Cleaned up the suspension frames and installed the front engine cradle in order to attach all frontend plastics to finish the body work, looking good. I also repaired a broken driver side arm rest tray for 29K FD Vincent "Lucky SOB" Huynh.
Need...fresh air.....been....inhaling too much....paint fumes!!?!
Moto out........sheeshk

Well here's where I'm at with that. Both are good and doing the intented job, it just comes down to preference.
1. Both essentially do the same thing; limit the amount of flex at the pivot points, eliminating changes in toe, camber and the byproduct wheel hop under launch. I plan on driving and dragging this car with both installed to see if they're is any noticable difference. I will let you know the results when I do.
2. The delrin should last longer (unproven), compared to the metal to metal surface rod-ends. Both are potentially vunerable to debris getting in the bearing surface and accelerating wear, however the delrin should be less sensitive to that.
3. Maintance is about the same as far as checking for wear and play. Replaciing rod ends is easier to do than having new bushings machined. Will have to wait and see if that's even an issue unfortunately.
4. Since the delrin kit uses the stock trailing links there are no issues of getting them adjusted to the right length. Mess up the adjustment of the RE's and your going to potentially get weird handling characterisitcs. However, if your smart and have time you might find that you can create certain handling characteristic that could be beneficial in a drag situation. Very doubtful, but you never know.

Well ****, I took the stubborn half shaft to work and put in under the press and couldn’t get it to budge at 25tons, didn't want to go further due to potentially damaging the upright. May need to find myself an upright and half shaft assembly...that sucks.

ur car is hawt! as far as the gt wing goes, i say . . . i dunno. lol. if ur all about the go then go big, if u wanna keep it looking really nice then go 99 spec. im not sure how the big will look but im sure it'll be fine as long as its not a foot n a half above the roof.

No wing for this car, not a race car, and the 99 spec is really just an attachment with marginal benefits in my point of view (just like the STI and EVO wings). If it was an R1 and I was making it into a straight up race then ya, I'd wing it and put ground effects on too.
Went to HIN and see my dad this weekend. Man, HIN was a waste of 30 bucks. Some cool cars, hoe lotta strippers strut'n their stuff, but too damn dark so see really anything in detail. But I had a kick *** ride along 101 coming back. Hit 183mph in a couple spots and in one section I never went under 100mph for about 78 miles. Rode for 8 hours straight, man I'm sore. My Valentine One Radar Detector saved my *** more than once on this trip
PS: I had to inhance all the HIN pics just be able to see the cars.

u were on ur bike when u hit 183 right. if so i do belive u when u say 'i have a screw loose'. lol. well hold on a minute now i dont know much about the fd's n what not but what is the big deal about the R1's? n what the difference to ur car?
#194
lol, I said I had a few screws loose not just one. There's a difference, some of them cancel each other out, that's why I seem normal to other people.
Hard top version, it could be a base model I don't care, just a hard top. You loose chassis rigidity with the sunroof and it's a total bitch to blow out the braze and put on a hard top and have it true when your done.
Nah, when I'm done with this car I will be looking for a roller eventually and make it into a straight up race car with either a 13G or LS7, but that's a few years down the road.
edit: Then again I might just design and build my own DSR race car, it would cost me about the same amount of money, 20 million dollars. Anybody know of a hot sugar momma that likes car guys?

Okay, Started stripping and cleaning the brakes. Will have them painted by Friday hopefully.
Raced in the heavy weight Indoor Kart racing leagues at Sykart Tuesday. Finished second after starting from 6th. The track config didn't really lend itself to passing all that well. Apex showed up and won, circumstances out of my control prevented me from giving him a run for his money. Still in the lead for points right now: http://sykartracing.com/standings.aspx

Went to Street Warriorz show at PIR last night, tech was closed when I got there so I couldn't drag the bike a few times. But some cool cars where there, this was a better show than HIN! Except not as many booty shaking girls at this one.
500hp at the wheels all blackout Scooby was badass. Whoever did it knew what they were doing, super clean.

Well this months going to be a waste on working on the car. Shows, trackdays, rebuilding the motor on my truck next week and fixing my friends cars.
Anyways, started the process of putting the motor and tranny together for mockup time. The way things are turning out I going to do mockup before any paint gets layed on the body.
Anybody want to help me, so I can actually get the car done before the end of the year? Quit laughing, I'm being serious....really.
