Jeese and I finished stripping both the front clip and most of the chassis Wednesday night. Spoke with Phil the chassis repair guy and we will be most like putting the chassis on the rack next Wednesday. Come the end of this month I should have a rolling chassis. Peace.

Oh, the GTC bumper is going to take a lot of work to be at the level of fit and finish I want, yeah.

well I guess it's a little too late to mention that but zai gets pretty good deals through them as well because he's their half the time. Still planning on showing up to the event on thursday but I dont think I'll be running.

So is the GTC bumper a copy then or it just sucks fitment wise regardless?

You just had to post something dint you!

Brief details, I will let adam fill in the rest. Short of it is his motor will be coming out, maybe as soon as tomorrow. Never made it to the dyno. A expensive lesson was learned today and will not be forgotten.

Yes, I have been running this setup for a month now without any problems, which makes this all the more frustrating. While I was driving to the dyno I did boost reference check to see if I was still hitting 18psi, but instead it boost spiked on me causing the motor to go lean. It happened so fast the ecu couldn't react fast enough. The datalog say's I hit 21.5 psi, but the ecu fuel cel was still at 18psi causing it to lean out to 14.3 afr. I will post a plot of the log later.

So I'm getting a new boost controller and turbo and motor.....fuuuuuuuu

My condolences go out to you man...

What is with that? 21.5 psi, but fuel cell was at 18psi? WTF, ECU can't react fast enough?

What's with the IGL/IGT 40/37? (I'm probably not reading it right, is that way advanced w/ a little split, it looks ok on the graph then it jumps when the **** hit...?)

What Kind of Boost controller?

Again, sorry to hear, wish you and your RX a speedy recovery...

Man! If ever there was a case for a V8 swap this is it. You do everything you can to make the setup reliable and then something freak happens. Good luck going forward. I really admire your perserverance with this setup. I always thought your setup was THE way to do things with the rotary. Were you running AI? With a smallish spike like that, it might have saved you (unless of course you were already running it)... it took 30 PSI to kill my rotary with the water/meth I had on it and no intercooler. I spiked into the 20s a couple of times and it lived.

On that p20 cell are you looking at average value, or max? A lot of times you will see one spurious reading and the rest are normal...however if that is an average value you had issues for sure boost spike or not. Also do your fuel maps cover boost spikes of this nature? A lot of folks, myself included, have the last row where I've essentially opened all the injectors wide open if boost exceeds the previous row. It may not react fast enough but at least it's something.

I follow your build and it is a shame you have experienced this. My sympathies.

Regards,
Crispy

Those are Max values and I did give myself some safety with a rich fuel curve at 20psi, unfortunately didn't work.

Are you positive it's the boost controller? Vacuum line to the WG got a leak, singed controller wiring, or some other small issue that resulted in the whole thing going to ****? Also that boost spike occurs some time after the knock value goes ballistic.

Still a damn shame.

Crispy

I will do a full inspection next week to see if a line to the WG has a leak.

I wish I was running with AI, I had put a deposit for the new HFS-6 unit, but haven't gotten it yet.

As far as the knock going ballistic before the boost spike? Everything else looks to be in order on the datalog.

Well on a side note I finally fixed that leaking oil cooler. There was a hairline crack in the weld mid way up the side passage.
