Will a 3rd Gen RX-7 (FD) motor (13B-REW) fit in my 2nd gen RX-7?

The simple answer is No! The motor mounts are in different locations as well as other issues; however if you have enough time and money it can be done. It is generally cheaper and easier however to put in a 20B (typically around $10,000 installed) than it is an 13B-REW from a FD. Here is a basic write up: http://fc3spro.com/TECH/SWAP/FD3S/rew.html

A 20B is typically 10,000 in parts at least, not 10,000 installed. No point in doing a 13BREW over a 13B-T as they both can acheive the same HP levels it is way more work than it is worth.

Same HP ratings......with stock ecu's I wouldn't think so. Someone jump out and shoot me or was his Q answered wrong? I was gonna put a 13B-REW in my FB until I ran out of money. For mine, all I had to do was buy the JSPEC motor ($2000), tranny ($250), aftermarket ECU and harness ($1200), fabricate a mount for tranny($?), modify shifter hole in body, custom make driveline ($?).....other than that its all hair pulling time and effort to hook up and tune the ECU. time and money VS. final goal.......its your call. I would say a fully tuned SINGLE turbo 13B-REW would kick the equivalent 13B-TII in the ***.

Ya, they cant acheive the same HP. or should i say, reliably. 13bt's have weak rear irons. at around 4-500hp the dowel area breaks on the s4's with just the slightest detonation, this sends oil every where. S5's are better in that area of the casting. but the REW is not voulnerable in that area because it is much beefier. Why do you think all the 6-700hp cars use REW's? Also the REW secondary port runners have much larger runners and the intake manifolds are more efficient.

No it wont a similarly tuned single turbo 13B-REW and 13BT will make nearly the same HP, the 13B-REW has a little bit better flowing intake thats it, read the 2nd gen FAQ it talks about it in depth to not even ask its a waste of time and money. Stock for stock the 13B-REW makes more HP, it has twin sequential turbos which give it a nice powerband and will make more HP on stock turbos than the 13B-T, once you start upgrading turbos on both there is only a small difference between the two. Short answer for what it would cost to do a 13B-REW into another car you could have a lot more powerful 13B-T that was already in it. If you need to replace/rebuild an engine stick with the 13B-T.

I dissagree with you on those points. but the one point you have to agree on is that if you push 500 out of a S4 it will break. REW rear plate is WAY stronger.

Also, I have seen numerouse people with REW's pulling in the mid 400's on STOCK ports. I can honestly say I have NEVER seen a 13bt do that. i wonder why?

3rd gen engine has larger stock ports... i woudlnt say the cost difference out weighs the benifits though...
