According to Hinson when doing a V8 swap with a manual transmission the choice of an auto car vs a manual car doesnt make too big of a difference so they say you might as well buy an auto since you can often get a better deal.

Whats really gonna suck is when it starts raining again and you have to ride your crotch rocket to work.

When dealing with the insurance company never accept their first offer! If you don't like the second offer, tell them no and that you are going to get an attorney. If your shoulder was hurt in the accident go see a doctor and get your injuries documented, you should be able to get compensated for pain and suffering. Anytime anyone gets in an accident, go to the emergency room even if you aren't sure if you are hurt or not. Usually after an accident your adrenaline is running so high you won't feel a thing but the next day you will feel every ache and pain. I have worked on enough personal injury cases to know in addition to having been in a few wreaks myself. If you don't have your injuries documented it is more than difficult to get compensated for them. A good rule of thumb for settling personal injury claims is multiply your doctor bills by three, that is reasonable.

Property damage is another issue all together. You will never get what you have invested in the car. The insurance company will use low blue book value, total the car or depreciate all the extras you have in the car until they have no value. Their job is to give you as little money as possible and most people accept what they say. Insurance companies are some of the most profitable corporations in America. Check your insurance policies and read the fine print regarding what they will and will not cover.

I just got my license back after 5 years. I got a speeding and no proof of insurance ticket in Flagstaff, Arizona. I didn't pay it and after my car was stolen I didn't need a license. Then I got pissed and didn't want to pay it so I drove without one. But then I have probably driven more of my life without one than with one. I got tired of my heart racing everytime I was speeding and saw a cop, I knew if I got pulled over it would not be fun. So I bit the bullet and dealt with the ticket which was more than 7 years old. I tried to get a copy of my insurance policy but my agent didn't keep records that long. It just cost me over $900 and I now have an Arizona & Washington License and my driving is more aggressive now than before. I am wondering how long it will be before I get at ticket.

I agree.. NEVER accept their first offer! When my Acura was toatalled they offered me $6k which was $4k below blue book and I had a $5k system and $2k rims (they 1st offered me $300 for them and they were 2 weeks old!! I got $1800) plus TONS of the bolt ons and stuff like that... the most I could get out of them was $10,400 cuz I found out DURING this whole process that it was a salvage title.... Thanks to the dealership LYING to me! All in all I lost about $6k.

yea whatever happens, i need a new car or need to have a car fnished by the end of summer, a couple days in the rain wont hurt, but once summers over i have to have a ride, yea i wont take his insurance companys first offer, i expect it to be low, my shoulders feel fine, a little stiff, but ive felt worse after a good football game, should i still go get it checked out by a docter even a few days after? i dont wanna get low balled on this but i dont want it to take a month or two like it did with the mustang, they want 2,100 to buy it back, what should i offer them buy back on it? so i can part it out, seems like ive got a few early on in this thread mentiond wanting the motor, the dealership i bought it from also owns ground zero and they want the motor, power fc and turbo timer should be easy to sell, as well as the 3 good rims and all the interior plastic thats not busted, anyway, thanks for all the feedback guys apreciate it, and keep it comin, oh and cgotto6 sorry about your car, that was a day after mine, sucks bad dude, how bad was yours and what was it?

DAMN! I have been avoiding reading this thread just because I am dreading something like that happening to me also. I just had my car detailed and it looks great......thats when it happens *knock on wood* The good thing is, your alright. I know a good attorney in West Linn, he is actually a very nice guy and after having him help me once and seeing how much easier it is.....I would do it again. No calls from the insurance trying to low ball you or anything else.

Oh if you are seriously interested in getting another FD, mine is going to be officially listed soon. I have told some people, but haven't put it on Craigs list or anything yet. I have some pics and will be taking some more now that it is cleeeeaaaan mine looks identicle to my avater (red/tan) email= pdxrx7@yahoo.com and I really really prefer to sell it local.

Good luck, and if you want the attorneys name let me know!

lol You need to tell them to F- off sometimes. Pics sent. I just liked the ease of having an attorney field my calls. Since I was refferred to him, he helped me with the car and didn't take a portion of the claim for it, just the pain & suffering part. I used him twice and the 2nd time I ended up getting the same amount as if he hadn't and I would have taken their 2nd offer, but I guess the convenience made up for it.

$2100 sounds pretty reasonable to me as my '97 Acura Integra was offered to me at $3800 cuz they offer it to you at the HIGHEST price a junkyard/auctioneer will offer them... You should be thankful our parts aren't in HIGH DEMAND by others!! I'd say buy it back and sell the parts cuz you should be close to re-cooping your money at that price, plus the rest of the settlement will be paid to you so if' you're lucky you should get at least $12k in your pocket for a new car... I can't imagine you getting any less than $14k for an FD. Good luck BOSS man

ok heres the offer so far, 13,200 for the car, and 1,300 off that if i want it back, i told them no, cheapest car ive found that runs good and isnt trashed is all the way in LA and he wants 15,250 for it, so i told them if they give me 14,500 id be happy, then ill buy it back so ill end up with 13,200 in pocket, and i can prolly part everything out and make at least 2,000 of it, so 700 proffet, i gota talk to them tomorow tho, what sucks is their is no 7's for sale in my area so they have to call dealerships to get price quotes, and so the dealership isnt giving them an acurate quote, because dealerships are stupid and dont no anything about 7's

You shouldn't complain. Try looking for FD's in canada, I think there are 4 for sale west of the great lakes -- all with over 70-120k miles for 18k USK and up.

hahaha It is in code. Hey, I have a friend who works for Tonkin, if you want I can have them try to fax someting to you. I did that before on my car and they basically put anything I wanted (within KBB reason). I used to be buddies with the GM at Tonkin Mazda, not sure if he is still there though but I know my buddy (who I am having drinks with in an hour) would do it and he is at Gresham Honda. All they did for me was print out there Kelly Blue Book value and then hand wrote that the car was in excellent shape. The insurance company jumped $3000 for the car, I think it was a 93 Honda Civic. Anyway, let me know and also if you want to see it. I work in Tualitin right off of I-5.

Also the attorney general is a HUGE help if needed. He told me to contact a specific person at the insurance company and said it is a buddy of his and he would give me what I am looking for.....he did

yea if your buddy can give me a print out saying this is what they would sell the car for (14,500-15,000 would be good and seems reasonable) i can get my works fax number to you tomorow morning and you could fax it there, and then i could pick that up on the way up to check your car out, and then get it to the insurance agent,

Damn, my buddy is off tomorrow and won't be back till Thursday (car business ppfffft lol) I can see if he can do it Thursday, he is checking on how much he can sell me a Honda Pilot so I will be talking to him then. I will figure something out and either him or I can get someone at the Mazda dealership to do it tomorrow if you need it then.
