NA FCs can pass if the cat is OK.. [ask someone else if this is safe for Turbos, I keep forgetting...]

1/4 tank of gas >> put in two bottles of Isoheet [the red bottles], take a tube and hook the airpump output to the split air pipe... Drive gently, immediately afterwards remove the tube, and fill with regular gas.

>_> Not that I "condone" "cheating"......

WA isn't like OR where you can register a vehicle outside of SMOG regulations? I don't have to smog any of my cars because of where i have them registered at.

well technically by law in washington state your vehicle must be registered to match your phsyical address on your licence.

however i have seen some cases people can still get away with the car registered at a diff location.... it would only been if the dmv person didnt care or didnt notice...

so if you have a good freind or family in a different county that does not require emissions you can change your licence and car registrations to that address. and then you can put a different mailing address. so your titles, tab renewalls still come to the right address.

another thing if u fail emissions
you can apply for a waiver. which requires you to spend at least 150 dollars attempting to fix the emissions.

u can take the car to a certified repair center and expain to them you just want them to do just enough work to be able to get the emissions waiver( i belive its 150 dollars) not all shops will work with you and only do the min like this but id call around.

Change your address online to a friend or relatives house that lives in an outside county. the tabs will be delivered there. All my cars are registered at my brothers place in bellingham.

Actually its $150 for the waiver. I've don't emissions like 4 time in the past year. I do know a couple people in the peninsula so I mxight go that way. Unless somebody is kind enough to let m reg in Bahamas or someplace else with no emissions lol

So what is the current situation? Have the tabs run out? How many times have you failed the emissions test? What would you have to do to get a the $150 waiver? Unfortunately you have an 88 FC and not a 86 FC which is already exempt.

I (ahem) know a guy who has his registered in Bellingham. Lives in Edmonds. It's worked so far, for the last 5 years or so.

I had been using a bonze 3" cat on mine for a while. I had it fabbed up so that it replaces the pre-silencer in my RB turbo back. It worked like a charm, no problems at all. I can swap it out in about 30mins. I used to use this on my 87 Turbo and my 91 Turbo vert. Fits exactly the same. Problem is Air pump wont' fit on my 87 because of the TID i have to work with my BNR stage 2.

What is the exhaust system that is on it right now? If you have a header/midpipe combo a cat would swap ritht into the midpipe position. Then you would just need to rig up an airpump and air pipe to the cat with some way to get the airpump working. the airpump could be an electric one from another kind of car or the belt driven airpump from the FC. As long as the cat is on there and getting a good supply of air into it you will pass.

If you have a 1 piece header/mid pipe you need to find the stock exhaust manifold and precat as well as the main cat.

Just a cat back with the cat still intact. The hose ort pipe thing that comes from the cat is detached I would assume it goes to the intaske manifold?

My HC numbers were 360 cruising and 1588 idle lol so yeah.

No ****? Well as long as the cat isn't gutted you just need to supply it air. By an airpump, brackets to mount it and the split air pipe. Once you have that you will have to install the air pump/split air pipe and make the airpump supply air directly to the split air pipe. Once istalled you should be golden.

pull it off an take a look.

Another option would be to hook up an safc and do a N/A rotary tune on it. AKA= pull back the fuel at idle to where it barley runs. Then spike the gas with alc right before going through the test.

Once done fill the tank up and remove the SAFC.

id call several places or take the car there, and find a semi "shady" shop that will work on it anyway even with **** missing im sure u will find one that just wants your money.

most places probably dont knwo what stock rx7 stuff even looks like, id just make sure all hoses are hooked up to at least somethin, and theres no visible block off plates on anything...

yeah the pipe from cat to airpump would help your emissions out considerably im sure.

register it non-running becasue you park on the street and it needs to be tabbed while you fix the transmission. It will never come up agian. you can get an electric air pump from an LS1 equiped car and plumb it into the cat that'll make it pass... dude washington is the easiest state to mod your car in and get through the system.
