FC alt to FD alt

Anybody here knows a good place that can change an FC alternator into an FD alternator? Im already tired of having very low voltage on my S4 with my lights and rear defroster on. Ican only get 13.9-14 volts w/ lights off and 13.5 w/ lights on or 13.2 when i applied my brakes

thanks for the help!

Cleaned your battery connections lately?

Checked the tension on the alternator belt?

If that's all good, why not just take it to an alternator rebuild shop and tell them what you want?

That thread should help you out.

Also I happen to have an FD alt I've been holding onto for a while. I'll let it go for $50 if you want it.

????

Alternators are generators..... and the generate DC voltage...... I think your friend maybe got ripped off? Or, it doesn't sound like you are saying the right stuff.

An alternator spins a coil of wire, inside a coil of wire and induces a voltage, which is then rectified into a dc voltage....

FC To an FD is easy, change the wiring around around, get a new double pulley to be BA. and your set. That link above is prolly the same wiring diagram thats been floating around forever. And $50 for that alt is a steal, buy it!

Your voltage isn't bad. The only reason to change to an FD alternator is for the amps. FC has 80 amps, FD has 100 amps.
