Yeah its sad to see my buddy who has spend 15k on a wrx go get his *** handed to him by a 89 civic hatch on the freeway. That and me with my $500 fb was keeping up and with 15k, I could only imagine what I could do with and these cars. I'll take an FB and $4k over a 15k subaru or mistsu anyday

good lord.. i hope you're joking dude.
put any turbo car in 5th gear at 40mph and see how fast it is.
go watch the part before that, where he paces a murcielago on their test track.

thats kinda the point. the tuners have deep pockets, and can use any car they like to win the race. apparently, evos are a good choice.

This is my favorite thread. EVAR.
Wowwwwwwwwwwww so much to address.
To SHO guy, I forgot your name, I was there when you posted up the 215 trap, I was in my green GSX w/ mike in his tII swapped fc. The guy you talked to was arron, possibly one of the coolest NW evo guys.
To the rest of the folks:
My car starts everyday. My car idles perfect. I put gas in it and change the oil and don't have to worry about ****. Why does this matter? I can't speak for too many other owners, but I bought the car cause A) I wanted something fun to drive and B) I was tired of having to fix **** on old cars. The decision was spurred by B, but A was very important when I decided I wanted a new(ish) car. Are alot of evo owners dicks? Maybe. Most of the ones I've met were nice, and this was before I had mine. The last owner I met was a dick, which is funny cause he's the first I've met since I got my evo. I could say in the same vein, alot of FB/FC owners are broke as **** and have nothing better to do than haggle over used parts. Anyways if I pissed you off, feel free to chalk it up as another assholish evo owner. But I have owned two FCs, done a TII swap, and a 6port turbo setup, so it's not like I'm inexperienced with teh rotary. Asked tandolla, I'm really nice in person

PS: Haha love the dyno queen comment, is that your way of defending rx7s making 600-700whp on a 42r?

I love that show, but I HATE when people say turbo lag when they are referring to boost threshold.

Someone mentioned srt-4 drivers. For some reason, I always see them and 90% of the time they're driving like a jackass. Almost like it's their first car that has > 100hp, and they have to let the whole world know what a vented bov sounds like. They all seem employ triple lane changes and generally do 20mph over in a 35/40/whatever. IDK just my personal experience
the tuners have deep pockets, and can use any car they like to win the race. apparently, evos are a good choice.
I was kidding to some extent and I have the full eppisode where it races the murci, which is actually a worse track car then teh gallardo but they weren't racing the gallardo.
Both cars were in 6th gear at 40 when that race started. I'm just pointing that out, its not like that rental car got the chance to run through the gears and the race was biased.
I own a turbo car and yes it would be slow as ***** in 5th gear at 40, once it hits about 50 it starts taking off though so thats not to bad of lag.

Manufactures have even deeper pockets then these tuners and they cannot do **** to get the evo to place in the points in wrc, then again in wrc you are racing the top of the heap, not just shop cars with bolt ons or w/e...We will see about if the new 08-09 model is any better in wrc. I'm just saying maybe the evo is not the end all platform for a race car/track car? Affordable, deffinently, best their ever was probably not. It seems the evo is the new civic with a unlimited aftermarket support and owned by the previous civic crowd.

It's Tim. Yes we talked about my FD which you had seen on the Boeing freeway before. I do remember you. Must not have the FC anymore cuz I don't see you around here much anymore

I'm going to say it's probably the 4g63 you were sold on, since you were running the Eclipse before...? Correct? How long ago did you switch up to the Evo?

I'm not sayin all Evo owners are douchebags... Just all but 2 of them

Seriously... the guy I know works at Lynnwood Motoplex and if you've ever been there you know all the employees are douchebags and talk all the **** but can't back it up. Previously he had an RSX that put down less hp than my 7 did stock and he had a 75 shot of nitrous and bolt ons and it's supposed to be a 200hp motor?? He only reached 206hp at the wheels... He hacked up his Evo the same way. It's a giant POS and he can't even compete with a V6 SHO on the freeway?! The car can handle, yes. The car from a dig is quick, yes. The overall performance of the car isn't that great... Compared to the FD which in my experience driving MINE can be just as quick off the line, just as tight thru corners, and even better accelerating towards top speed... My FD from 35mph will boost much sooner than that Evo. At 35mph I'm already starting to spool and once I hit about 45 my boost kicks in and I'm at 14psi by 50-55mph...

I would also like to add I have raced my SHO vs my FD on the highway. My SHO which a modded Evo 8 could not hang with on the freeway gets walked by my FD from the same 60mph roll when my FD is left in 5th gear...

Well the above mentioned Evo with 720AWHP is a mess. Not only is it in the shop every other week due to some issue, he goes through turbo's faster than anyone I know. Of course his dad backs it all up and pays for it all, and second he bought 2 more Evo's to do the same mods to...maybe even faster with internal mods. So parking outside of this house are 3 evo MR's, 07 STI, Lambo Murch, R32, Porsche 911T. Its somewhat entertaining to see what they do with these cars.

I don't agree with you guys that all evo owners are ego freaks. There are always people out there (in every car class) that do the same thing. There's always someone driving by who thinks they're racing you when you're just driving the way you usually do.

I think this is a very stupid post. Of course there will be more Evos out there than (I'm assuming you are comparing it to) rx7s. The rx7 is discontinued and 95 was the last year it was officially sold in the US, that's more than a dozen years ago. Evos only started to appear in the US in 2003. What do you expect? With time, the number of cars diminish due to accidents and other factors. Of course a car which hasnt come out since 95 will have lower numbers than a car still being sold today.

Also, you must think I'm stupid if you're saying these two look alike.

This quote is also stupid. Multi forum meets usually mean a big turnout in some sort of cramped space, which also means, in order to drive ANYWHERE, people have to park properly (to prevent cops from harassing you) and orderly (to allow others to pass through). I guess in your case, this means "homo."

Most car owners talk to other car owners who have the same car. Why? To get info, opinions, options, etc. That's probably also "homo."

See above reply.

Anyway, I'm done ranting and raving.

Yeah whats the deal with the motoplex guys? I've been in there to get parts for my r6, always ******** workin there. Anyways 4g63 I just like traction and turbos Your FD was very very quick compared to my eclipse, but my eclipse was sloww. I've owned the evo for like 2 months at this point. And parted out my last fc like 5 months ago I believe. Anyways haha maybe we'll meet again on the boeing autobahn

damn Mai... that was a rant! I guess you don't like Aaron's sarcasm

yeah twilight my FD is pretty quick compared to DSMs... Haven't found one to take me down yet when I've been driving. except for the 10 second one with FD wheels, and I knew it was him so I burped the throttle so he'd punch it. Sick *** 91 Talon.

mai I should have put that post in teal, you made good points tho.

those pics were from the baker 07 cruise, anyone else that was there would understand my sarcasm, it was a really lame sight seeing 20 wrx pull up all at once after everyone else in the cruise had already got to the top of the mountain. Then they come up blasting their bov's an hour after everyone has shown up. I tried talking to a few scooby owners and they really seemed lame and content only talking to their own kind.

in response to what a lot of people are saying, yea, not all evo drivers are douche's, a lot of them suffer just as much as any 7 owner and do the work themselves......its just the majority doesn't. and i don't know what anyone else's problem is but i like (emphasis on like) the evo's looks...i just think i wouldn't want to own the car past the age of 20....

Brian. used to work at Action Autoparts on Evergreen way. I went in here several times for minor things for my vac lines n stuff. He'd hook it up for me. I think the last time I was there was wen I was getting my fittings for the boost controller. And it was after that when I saw him on Airport Rd. He is a cool dude.

All I know is every damn srt-4 owner seems like a douche. Everytime I see one on the freeway they weave through traffic to get up to me and pop off their bov's and try to get me to go with them. I just assume that they have never ridden in a quick car so they just think that their car is gods gift to the ricer crowd. In case you didnt know vented bov's add at least 40hp...

GO RX7 GIRL - right on. Now, when are you going to get out to the race track. It'd be great to have another gal to hang out with.

All the evo, wrx, and srt owners I've met have been pretty cool. Of course, I meet them at the autocrosses, not at street races.

At multi-car meets, folks feel comfortable with their own crowd so it's common to hang with folks you know and the lingo you speak. When folks start talking chassis, motors, and you have no clue, it's a little overwhelming and isolating. They probably think the same stuff about most of us that we are posting up about them in this thread. Crap, I still think you guys are talking about Audi's half the time when you mention an S4. There's ******** driving every make and model, even rotaries, believe it or not.

Jeez! He's crazy. I talked to him right after he had a custom intercooler built after blowing the end tanks off of his previous one. And then after he blew up his SC61 turbo. And then after he decided to kick it up to 30 psi for fun Definitely a cool dude. Can't believe he still has that car. He had a black one too that he was pullin engine parts off of. Did he ever sell that? Cuz he kept tryin to get me to buy it off him lol

Id take an evo over an sti. I think its a good platform but everything is overpriced. If I had the 30-35k it would take to buy either one of those cars id get an fd, put a 3 rotor in there with all the supporting mods and call it a day. There is a red evo that drives around where I live. Hes a faggoty as 16 year old with rich parents. I was getting gas and he started asking my questions about my fc. when I told him it was N/A he said "what a piece of ****" I laughed it off and said at least I payed for it by myself. He pretended not to hear me, got into his car and sped off.
