Well I was traveling up north bound 509 to stop by my folks home, goin the speed limit, and there was very little traffic. (rarely is on 509) anyways, i see what appears to be a stock white evo 9 (had the front bumper and the jdm rear diffuser) with most likely just a intake system, cat-back, and a boost controller. anyways, as i was driving down 509 this white evo flys past me and i don't really think much of it....till the douche slowed down and lowered his window. he yells out "i totally killed you there" wait...what? did i hear him right? at this point were at a stop light next to each other. i'm thinking "wow this guy is a moron." but he tops the cake by yelling out "wtf is with you rotary owners, everyone knows your motors are pieces of sh--t" after this he turns off towards the fife/puyallup area and the only thought i had in my head was....wow, are all evo owners this thick headed? but the worst thing is, all the evo owners i've met so far...have been this narrow minded. is it the 40k price tag and the supposedly legendary 4G63 that makes them this stupid or is it the fact that they don't have enough brain capacity to actually work on a rotary? let alone figure out that it doesn't have pistons

you know, one time i had an evo driver and come up to me and ask if i ever tracked my car which i responded with a polite no and said that when the weather turned better (this was in december with the sh--tstorms of rain and crap we were getting) i would probably do so. oh foolish me, i thought when he said "track" he ment a track with curves, bends, and corners. he was thinking "drag strip." he then comented that "REAL racers, race in the rain"
cuz i mean EVERYONE has AWD and can proudly say they race in the rain right?

hahahaha The only cool Evo owner I ever met was at the track when I ran my SHO with a 215mph trap speed. Suz he ran a 12 to my 15 and then came to give me props on my car cuz we both trapped 30 mph, so he assumed we finish at the same speeds, even though the radars were completely random lol He also trapped 685mph on one of his passes. But I actually know the guy who tried to do a flyby from about 3 cars back. I heard him drop let him get to my bumper then pnched it and he got no further than my rear door =) Wow did he have a ton of excuses! Then the next time he sees me he wants to throw down pink slips against my FD... What a tool!

hahaha Yeah... I think it's funny they pay more than 14 times the amount I paid for my Taurus and my Taurus will in all actuality out-pull an Evo on a freeway roll I wouldn't say it if it wasn't true!

i would agree. i have 2 friends one with a evo 9 the other with a 2002 wrx and the wrx beat the evo in 2 drags. so maybe they are pissed that they paid 40k for a car that can get its *** handed to it by car that cost 15+K less.

speaking of just having way too much money...my buddy has an evo 9 MR and he had his dad take it down to horsepower freaks up in portland and said how much hp can we get out of the stock block? About 10K later and a dyno run he came out with 690 on pump gas and 730 on race fuel. This is with stock block and internals. He set a world record with these numbers in an evo. Now I have got for rides in a viper and a Lambo before (both owned by his dad) and they were fast for sure. This car is ridiculous. NOS, 35 PSI, and ignition work. I dont know the full details but this damn car is stupid fast. Now I didnt know what he did to the car but he said he just got it out of the shop and i should have seen the 700hpf sticker in the window, but i didnt. So off we go on some back road and i have never felt more G force in a car and i think I never will. We maxed out the gearing at 185mph in no time. I have respect for these cars and their potential, but most of these owners are brainless money bags.

dyno queens, a yellow Evo 8 tried to race my TII on the highway in broad daylight during 3pm seattle traffic. When i wouldnt, he cut infront of me, flipped me off and blew black smoke at my car with his little POS evo. GAWD! i ****** ********. Im not saying every evo owner is bad, every group has their basterds, but the ones that stand out the most are ******** which gives everyone else a bad name. I can name a few cocky basterd rx7 drivers myself who are no different than that **** face with the evo.

Gearing and drag does wonders, look at FDs, FCs, and FBs with 450+ hp can beat a lot of higher power cars (within reason), mainly do to gearing and lower drag effect (high speeds).

so true. I ran a 14.6 with only 140rwhp in my old fb. Most hondas need at least 200whp to run that fast. I know a guy who ran a 11.9 at Englishtown on slicks with a fb only 230 rwhp and 4.3 gears.

Yeah 225hp Yamaha V6 with an automatic transmission hangs with an Evo8 on the highway no problem. My FD walks away from Evo's when it's in 5th gear... And I paid less than half they do for their Evos... I think it's funny.

also from reading other peoples comments, i have NO PROBLEMS with the evo itself. i think for a 4 door sedan, originally based of a lancer/mirage to be turned into such a quick tuner car and sold with an complicated AWD system is amazing on mitsubishi's part. their IS a reason why evo's hold such low time records at a lot of track events and such (of course these cars cost at least or more than 6 figures). my MAIN problem with evo's are their drivers. the drivers are all money bag douches. plus next to a clean 1st, 2nd, or 3rd gen 7...or even an 8.....evo is pretty daym ugly.

evo is apparently the top time attack car right now in the jap scene. Props to that they suck ball sack at a real racing series know as wrc.

no matter how many mods and tens of thousands of dollars one throws at it, none of them are unique and or stand out in a crown perfect example.

Evos look like wrx, sti, passats, srt4, a4's, civics, 4 door integras and just about every other four door eccono-box made. Really cool when at least 5 hundred people in a 20 mile radius have the same car as you

Hmm, I've only talked to one EVO owner. The person only told me how "high maintenance" the car was. I asked him how so and he said the tires are expensive...

Anyone here actually own an evo? I really want to know what makes these car's high maintenance, even more so than a rotary?

evo and sti owners are not that bad, well maybe they are know as party crashers by everyone and most of them don't work on their own cars and or they are stock. Then they proceed to talk **** about how great there car is to people that spent months sometime even years waiting to find the perfect rx7 to buy. maybe they are bad

I could go to any dealership I frequent and buy a evo9 tomorrow try that with an fd/fc/fb....Would that make me cool since I have a fast car ?? nope, I find cars with charisma and classic-ness way cooler, even if they don't always have the top performance that can always be arranged by someone passionate enough and a high level of mods but it is impossible to take a car that everyone already has and give it uniquie-ness and class when you cannot drive through bellevue without seeing every trim level in every color evo available pass you going the other way.
same reason a lot of people don't like vettes and mustangs. dime a dozen ring any bells ??? ?

I would much rather have an FD and have people ask me what kind of car it is and then see their jaw drop when they ask what year it was manufactured expecting to hear a post year 2000 date. My RX7 would hand my acquaintances Evo8 it's *** on a 24k gold plate that he can pay for himself to go along with his overpriced car. On 27psi my FD on a current 14psi could stomp him, no doubt in my mind. After seeing how my SHO was against him from a dig and even moreso from a roll... And the other Evos I've run in my FD... Yeah he wouldn't stand a chance. But I'm not gonna be a *** and even acknowledge him throwing out the "let's race for Pinks" bullshit. Seriously, all these Honda guys that finally got REAL jobs so they can afford a car payment go out n buy an Evo... They're "glorified" ricers. Similar to SRT-4 and Sti owners and Mustang and Camaro owners too. The worst part is they'll talk loads of **** but never stand up to a challenge
