hmm only fails the cruize...
is your o2 sensor working/hooked up?? is your air pump hooked up and the air dump tube going down to the main cat??

both of thse are emission components that are only active at cruize on the s4 FC , which could contribute to a failure.

if you cannot get it to pass with out spending very minimal and doing your own work.

then....unfortunitly in WA state u are required to spend a minimum of 150 dollars at a cerfified emissions shop ( theres plenty of them around) in an "attempt to fix it", Then even fi u fail u can present this and they will give u a emissions waiver for 2 yrs since u attemptedt o fix it.

But if u buy the parts your self and do it it wont count towards this waiver.

Top of the page.. read the sheet he got. You better make sure your idle is at or under 1000 or they wont even test you

actually jordan, their equipment doesnt properly register the RPM of rotary engines, and therefore you can run higher RPM than 1000 to help you pass. I passed emissions with no air pump using a high idle (1500rpm) and a healthy amount of alky

all you have to do is make the air pump pump directly into the cat. pass everytime! Lit'll kill a cat in 2 weeks though so just take it easy, don't forget a quart of denatured alcohol in half a tank and make sure you've been driving the car around for at least 30 minutes before you take it through.

I put a gallon of alcohol in half a tank and hard wired the air pump to make sure it ran thru entire test. l also leaned out the rpm range between 1000 and 3000 rpm.

Ive gotten a waiver for last 2 tests doing my own work and tuning. Call Dept of Ecology and talk to them. On your retest make sure you show an improvement. I have engine management system so I can tweak air/fuel, timing etc. on the fly.

^^ yeah you can go to any emissions testing place in washington to do that. just register your car in the county that doesnt require you to pass the emissions test
