Emission Test (Fail Again)
Ok, well I did the air pump trick, and fill the gas tank and added a bottle of Fuel System Cleaner and drove it on I-5 before going there. Then test the car and still failed. However the numbers from the test have change better though so I know that the Air Pump was helping some how. I think is the Cat or the pre-cat that is clogged or something.

cat may be clogged, but its deffinately NOT working.
You need a new cat, plain and simple
You got similar numbers when I took an emissions test with hollowed out cat, barely broken in 13B and a weber carb

give up, pay the $150 to a Emmisions shop and get a waver.
After the 2nd test its $15 for each and every one. I did 5 tests and never passed. This is in my bone stock 91 vert.
I gota get tabs for my 87 T2 soon. Im going to either get a 3 inch cat and have it fabed to go with my RB turbo back. or just have them ghetto weld an older cat i have from befor. Havent decided yet. I kind of want to hactually pass but its so fucked up that i will probably just to the El cheapo for now.

Even after the certified mech said my car would pass it failed. Passes at the mechs with his machine, fails at the test place. Thats not right.
cost me close to $300 to get my car tabs for it.Thats fucked up.

Damn it! >=( I feel you man, and I think is really freaking stupid. I am so pissed that I am going to get an exhaust and go around the system for the tabs. Once I got my tabs even if is around the system. This is the last year for my 81 Rex to be tested. I hope so because I am going to trow away that damn emission crap. This is all lame for them to try to test my 20+ year old car and expected to pass as if it had a new emission system.

just find some random emissionsless address. get yer license changed to that addy, go register the car at that addy, and tell them you want the title mailed to your mailing address( real address) then go back and change your license to your real address

its easy,, Find a friend or family out of the city limits, Like graham or eatonville and get some mail sent there, goto the emission place out in the sticks they will just give ya tabs, i do it every two years,
