Dumball Rally
Dumball Rally
Just stumbled on this - http://www.carfreeks.net/showthread....518#post103518
"Here we go everyone: The rally is set Portland to Las Vegas starting 6/25 (wed) at a Winco in a bad neighborhood. We will drive and camp for two days in order to reach Las Vegas Late 6/26 (Thursday). On 2/12/08 the web site http://dumballrallytodukesfest.home.comcast.net will have trip details including stops, activities, and most importantly the route. Registration is $50.00 per person. Car value, well the cheaper the better! Please keep the value down under $1000 ( including improvements / repairs ) as the car may suffer damage on the trip, and most plan on using our contacts to recycle the car in Vegas. The more people involved ,the more money in the pot. The more money in the pot, the better the prizes. Prizes will be awarded for challenges along the way and at the Rally end. Rally Rules * A team car can't cost more than $1000.00 (including upgrades, but repairs while racing will be different) * Each car must have some reference to Cannonball Run, Dukes of Hazzard, Knight Rider * Each participant must submit a $50.00 entry fee if entered by end of March: $60 if entered April - May : $75 if entered in June * Each Team will follow a predetermined course * The ability to perform stupid acts will reduce your overall time * If you get a speeding ticket, your will have time added to your overall total time * However if you get a warning from the fuzz, you will get a time deduction * Every participant accepts liability for thier actions, don't blame us we have enough problems ~Course Route~ We have our dates, now you have the course..get a team, get a beater...the cheaper the better.... Wednesday we leave Portland, the saddle soar beater hero's will make in two days. Each day broke into two timed segments. Times in each leg will be scored, shortest time gets the most points. Speed at your own risk, you are liable for your own behavior!!! Each team will be given the same maps to follow. We will be doing our best to avoid major highways, to allow for more planned side activities that will help accumulate points. The overall winner will have the most points. Points will be made based on driving times, activity scores, themes, etc. For example whichever team has the most bumper stickers at the end of the race will loose points....(think about that concept) ~ Day 1, leg one: Portland to La Pine Oregon Day 1, Leg two: La Pine Oregon to Reno Nevada. We will rest in Reno for the night... well the smart people will rest. ~ Day 2, Leg three: Reno to Rachel Nevada (http://www.rachel-nevada.com/) down the Extraterrestrial Highway thats area 51 to those that don't know.. Day 2, Leg four: Rachel to Vegas...you must vallet your car at the Mirage meet at the Beatles bar at 11:59 p.m. Friday night. "
looks like it could be a blast
