Drifting @ PIR June 26th

This event will not be on the track, but in the parking lot/paddock area with a course marked by cones (similar to an autocross). I've looked over the course layout and it should be challenging for the experienced driver while still safe and fun for the beginner. There are a good variety of turns with features like decreasing radius, unequal slaloms, and corner spacing "just right" for continuous sliding (no need for choku dori in straights). Obviously this is a motorsport and there are no guarantees for absolute safety, but basically risk is comparable to an autocross...

Registration is day-of (first come first serve) but if you are serious and plan on traveling from far away you can call PRE at (503) 619-0055 and preregister via phone today only (Monday) for a $5.00 fee. There will be AM and PM sessions and a driver limit of 30 per session to promote plenty of seat time. Price is $45 per session. Spectators are allowed for $5 for the day (including parking)

Schedule:

Gates open: 7:00am.

Setup: 7:00am-7:30am

AM:

Sign up: 7:30-7:45am

Driver’s meeting/safety inspection: 7:45am.

Drifting: 1:30pm

nope, $45 per session. If you wanted to drift both sessions it would be $90...

Where is this supposed to be at? Is there seating for spectators? Kind of expensive for a parking lot event.

The large parking lot at Portland international raceway. There is plenty of room for spectators, not sure about seating (probably couldn't see the action too well from the grandstands). I'll have a barrel-stack of tires/wheels you're welcome to keep warm

First id like to post and say thank you to those that came out...my company hosted the event. IT was a gymkhana...through and through. But sadly ppl did not follow the course layout as it was intended...bit of grip and slip...so next gymkhana its going to be much tigher and more cones as well as more staff so this doesnt turn into a " i am going to drift everything" a gymkhana is combination of grip and slip...i am holding these events to get ppl as much seat time in thier cars as possible, to learn the car so when there is an actual drift event ppl know how the car is going to re-act and the like...same applies to track days.

MA71Turbo's posted info is false. He does not rep. my company nor the events, though his help in promoting the gymkhana was appreciated, comments such as about the insurance are false.

Thank you!

Eric

I was working turn 8 for the motorcycle races. I culd see you guys a little bit. Looked like fun.
All the tire noise was bouncing off the hill and sounded like bikes going down.
Took most of the morning to tune it out.
