differential questions

I am getting a 84 GSL tomarrow from a guy...the guys car has a 84 GSL rear end with 4:88 gearing. And i want to know if i can put those gears in my 85 GSLSE rear end or are the axles bigger? Is there a way to mix and match??

Joe, I did a search for ya in the first gen. section for "diff swap" and the answer to your question is YES, you can swap them. The axle sizes are the same on all the 83.5 to 85 models. The flange is different on some (some with through bolts, some not), but the rest is the same.

I'm pretty sure flange size is same from 83-85, and the large axles are 84-85. but gsl and gsl-se axles are the same diamiter but differant lenghts. but gearing is same on both so you should be good.
