I personally had a turbo civic and it was quick. If I didn't have bad camber and shitty tires, I would have ran high 12's for sure. I was trapping out at 110 and this was on a completly stock LS block. It all can be done for under $3000 as mine was all done for under $4000 but I had some other goodies I threw in. It would be awesome for a daily driven car. But once you get past a certain point, your hp doesn't mean **** on the streets

Greg, don't go honda. No one respects hondas. If you want cheap, do what I am doing, swap a 5.0 or something in a RX. Will be much faster for less than a honda... everyone on honda forums talks big, but most are very very slow with lots of money spent. I bet you could swap a junkyard 5.0 into a RX7 2nd gen and spray the crap out of it, hit mid 10s and have some fun for $5000 at the most. If you could find a 2nd gen shell like I did for free, spend $400 on a motor, $200 on a t-5, $600ish on mounting equip, $100 on DS (Ulrichs will make one for about this), $300 on some ET Streets mounted on Mustang wheels, find a TII rear or even go leaf springed 8.8 for rear end, have someone port the heads and o-ring the block for around $500... would be easily a 10 sec. car with around 500 hp. Everything I just listed totals up to around $2000, the rest would be all the stupid little things you run across with a buildup. I would also get a cage, Jegs has a steel one for the RX for around $300.
Seriously, that would be so much more badass than a stupid civic... bottle fed 5.0 in a stripped out 2nd gen. Hell Yeah.

he's worried about gas mileage and reliability... while u'd get the reliability, the gas mileage wouldn't be there with a 5.0 or most any v8, unless u got a stupidly wide geared transmission... if i were to swap a v8 into a 7, i'd have to go all out, and seeing as the budget doesn't allow, no LT1/LS1 with a 6 speed for me haha
