cold start issues. with timing and fuel?

I replaced my spark plugs.. starts cold alot better. Re timed the car after the new plugs and wires for the hell of it.
However doing this i noticed that on Cold starts the Timing Retards till the car warms up? Anyone else notice this? ECU do this? or a sensor? Runs rich still till the car warms up.. So i lose a gallon of gas everytime i start the damn thing

as far as cold start problems the ecu's water tempurature sensor, the green 2 prong plug in the back of the thermostat housing can cause problems make sure that is pluged in.

running rich and changes in timing sounds normal for a cold engine, as air temps will be different

Aftermarket for the sensor or ecu? Have you injectors ever been sent in to be cleaned/flow tested? I am pretty sure even if the thermo sensor was unplugged that it defaults to the engine being hot. Check Hailers and thermo sensor in the search. I don't think it would cause a gallon of gas to be used on startup just wouldn't run great till the engine got hot. I thought you were posting on earlier thread that you had coolant seal issues??

Well i had a radiator go out.. Fixed that. i have a oil control ring failure. causing smoke at where i would be making Power. So i cant rev high. its been about the same for a year. Just started to get tired of not being able to open it up..

When i do the rebuild il send the injectors in. Anyone out here running a EFIE? i hear they work to fool the computer and sends false rich readings to the ECU so it runs leaner..

I have a ton of stuff i want to try out to tell you the truth.. just not their yet.

alot of people tune the fuel with a SAFC, pretty cheap solutuion for some tuneability, somewhat crued method but it works it modifies the afm signal to change the a/f huge changes can start effecting timeing to but you wouldnt be doing anything that drastic in yr cas4e
