WA Bothell Import Service Inc. (NW Washington)

If you are from NW Washington..., Has anybody taken their Rx-7 to Bothell Import Service Inc. before? If so, was their service good? I'm trying to find a reliable shop/mechanic for my Rx-7 I'm about to purchase. Any other suggestions?. I live just north of Seattle, WA.

I can't think of one thing that isn't a complete engine rebuild that you can't fix or replace yourself with a $19.99 tool set. Just go buy a 10 and 12 mm and you can almost completely take the car apart. Other than the huge flywheel bolt you might be able to rebuild an engine with a tool set also. XD

What are you going to use them for, to change your oil? I guess you are new but generally taking you rotary powered vehicle to a shop to get fixed is not going to get good results. Spend 10 minutes researching your problem on the forum and fix it yourself and you will be much happier. There is just so much useful information and tricks on the forum to fix those wacky weird problems that only a die hard rotary mechanistic would know. It doesn't give a normal shop a chance without spending much more of your money on them trying to fix things with trial and error.

If you are looking for a reliable affordable car in general, walk, no run away.

Yea, i'm about to get a nice tool set, but for now I need some one to work on my Rx-7. I also need to get a jack and a jack stand. The main problem right now is the hydraulic clutch system, the pressure is low, and I have to pump to clutch to build it up. I got some useful information, but I am new to cars, and don't want to mess anything up. I don't beleive that is too hard for a mechanic who has worked on rx-7's before, to do. I do need an oil change, and fluids/filters inspected in general, along with belt inspections, so on and so forth. Eventually I will learn some things along the way, but for now I need a good mechanic/shop to go to.

Bleed your clutch, go to car store and buy filters and oil, drain your oil and take out the oil filter, put in new oil filter, and put in new oil, and then look at your belts for cracks. It's honestly THAT simple. You are severely over complicating everything. If you can't do any of the above you have one hell of a ruff long road in front of you.

Other than that, I know that Intec racing has had quite a few rx7 drift cars, including a procharged FD if I remember correctly. If you have plans of going big with any of your builds they have a very competent tuner and dyno.

Do you know if Jerry's does clutch work, and general services, like oil changes, filters, fluid inspections, allignment adjustments, etc.

let do a breakdown for you on prices.

at home oil change less than 20 bucks no matter what. and including driving time to get the oil/filter 1 hr

quick lube oil change. 50+ bucks and usually depending on how busy 1+ hrs

inspecting fluids in drive way. FREEEEE, well unless needing to top off. time to check all fluids ~1 hr

shop to check fluids. 20-120 bucks depending on cost per hr. ~1.5 hrs no matter what they are going to say it needs changed so your lookin at closer to 300 bucks and 2-3 hrs of time

driveway tune up(air and fuel flter, plugs, wires, belts) ~100 bucks give or take in parts and 1 hr time.

shop tune up. 150+ bucks. hopefully they know about rotaries and get the plugs right. 2+ hrs

clutch hydralics in driveway. bleeding it-5 bucks for brake fluid.20 min time. replacing slave/hose10-50 bucks( prices vary) 1 hr.

shop clutch work. bleeding 20-120 depending on shop cost per hr. at least 1 hr time. replacing parts 75-150 and at least 2 hrs.

im sure by now you get the picture. and i prolly went into that a bit more than needed. but i was bored. just learn to do it yourself. it really makes a difference on the checkbook

Alright guy, tell me how to do each one of those things you just mentioned in detail, besides oil changes, including jacking up the car, what tools I need, where to perform these services, etc. Like the name states, I am NEW.

Before you go any further, I have to mention that I live in apartments, with no real decent place to do any services that involve working under the car especially, and I live in a place that rains constantly, where I also have no garage or covered area to work in. Note that I do not have any tools yet, or jack stands, but what you mentioned above leads me to beleive that those are affordable to get compared to taking to a shop.

Plenty of local people would probably help you out if you asked. Jerry's does all the things you listed.
