I'm getting out of the DSM world and trying out the rotary situation. I'm not too big on the bodykit (ect) on the car but I am interested in it otherwise. Does anyone know anything about this car?

I ve been by that shop/carlot didn't like the place or people. but if you buy it, i will buy the body kit. it looks to me theres $$$$ in that car the head lights arn't cheap nore the wheels those run some $$$ i know i sell em, those are Volks from the looks of em
that car was blown up by on of the employes, and took to a shop up north to be "repaired" the kid has also blown a few other of there cars, he takes them home to drive, plus alot of there cars, are" damaged cars brought up from cali, they call that car an enfini, cause the old owner put the badge onto it, just keep an eye out, it was a nice car till they drove it, just keep a close eye out and have a mechanic and a body shop over look the car, i have seen before and afters, and whoa . some of them should have been salvaged,
Peace,..
Peace,..
If you are talking about rx at I did some homework on the car and they baught it at an auction with a blown motor. Then they got a motor in it and blew that one up as well. (Someone needs to learn to drive). But the rx7 according to carfax had been sold at a couple of auctions from one dealer to another. So I would just be really carefull and deffinatly have a rx7 machanic take a look at it before you make a decision.
I ended up buying it. It runs strong but very rich. The interior needs a little love and the 18x8's rub in the front a little. It needs to be tuned very badly. I need to get it to a dyno and it it tuned badly. It's kinda hobbled together but its a good start for a project. They took in my busted up GST and gave me plenty for it. Any suggestions of a good place to get her tuned in? It doesnt have any gauges for tuning at all but there is an SAFC2 in it. He told me he took the gauges out. She spits flames when warm at an idle and it gets about 7mpg. Where is a good shop to take it in to?

Hey I've seen your car, if you need help you should give me a call, I've had 3rd gens and 8 rx7s lol.
My cell is (360)202-0195 I'm Justin.
I'm sure I can help you out.
The SAFC2 is no good for 3rd gens. You need a standalone ECU, the only person I recommend for tuning FDs is Ralph Friend at Xcessive/GroundZero in Portland. If the car has more than intake, downpipe, and catback you need to either install some stock parts or get a Power FC or other stand alone ECU otherwise you will be seeing another blown motor. Good luck with the car, RX7WEEE knows what he is doing from what I have heard so he can steer you right.
I kinda feel bad saying this after the fact, but you shouldnt buy that car, the people there have very little idea what they are doing, and if he did pull the gauges out, he left you blind in the one car that you cannot afford to be blind in. But seeing as you bought it already, dont get on it until you get it tuned. Also, I would suggest going through it from top to bottom to see what is done to it modification wise. Hopefully everything works out for you! BTW, how many miles does it have?
Yeah it is a little late on the "dont buy that thing". Like I was saying it runs horribly rich. I rittled him with as many questions as I could. He gave me vaccume diagrams and whatnot and told me everything. It was enough to instill my confidence in buying the car. Like I said.... the car runs like a champ but I drive it little to non(I have a daily driver). If I have to go to an FC(or any kind of stand alone) then I will. I am very new to the rotary thing... this **** was so much easier on my DSM. The car currently has 101k on it but the motor/tranny/turbo's have 45k on them. I havnt had time to really tear into it. I've been underneath it and everything looks sound but I havnt tickled the motor situation. I've changed the oil and checked the rear end fluid. I need to print out some diagrams....etc.. and get a good look at things.
Hopefully things will work out fine. It's an awsome car even though it needs some love.

Yeah...from the pics it looks like it has open intake, exhaust, intercooler, pulley kit, and possibly a few other things. If you are getting gas milage that bad, then something is tuned terribly wrong. Get a boost gauge, take out that SAFC, and get a boost controller. Set the controller to 10psi, and run it, making sure you get off the gas if it goes over that. If it runs stable at 10psi, then you will be fine. If it spikes over 10-12psi, or creeps uncontrollably, you will need to get a stand alone, or port the wastegate.
He mentioned something about doing a true twin(non sequential) conversion to it. But from what I've seen in the engine bay everything looks normal. I will get a boost guage and take it from there. I'm a little nervous to unplug the AFC.... I asked him if I could and he told me no.... I'm gonna give Justin a call tomorrow and see if he has time to check it out.
I did however have no problem tearing that stupid wing off

From looking at the engine bay pic it looks like the air pump is deleted this means one of two things that are very important to the longevity of the motor. If you still have a catalytic converter it is plugged or will become plugged because it is not getting air to help the burning process. Put an airpump on if you dont have one and you have a catalytic converter. Most likely what this means is you have a midpipe, which I am sure you can find out by looking under the car if you have worked on cars before. If you have a midpipe you NEED a standalone ECU even if you do keep the boost only to 10 psi. In fact even at 10psi you should be getting the car tuned. If you want to boost more than that you need to get larger fuel injectors and a fuel pump. Otherwise you should buy a stock catalytic converter and put it on instead of the midpipe, get a boost gauge and make sure its at 10 psi and remove the SAFC.

You should give me your bridge ported motor...if you still have it. If you dont, you should get one, then give it to me.
Thanks again for the help Justin
At least now I know now what to start with and go from. The speedometer part of the dash started working again once I left but the tach I'm going to have to find time to dink with. It's weird that it wont run if the AFC isnt plugged in... weird and scary but oh well. I'm going to have to do some more research on what makes these cars tick.
*sigh
At least it isnt overheating/boosting

I went and checked that car out a while ago when it was overboosting and having serious fuel issues... not sure exactly how they fixed the problems. If you ever need a hand just drop me a line. If i remember correctly they had the car non-seq when i looked at it. The guy could not tell me if it was true non-seq or not.
Justin gimmi a call some time...

It's runnin a sly 7 lbs right now but is running too rich. I have it parked for now. I'm gutting the inside to learn more of whats going on. Then I'm going to tear into the engine bay and work from there. The SAFC2 is comming out and I'm going to run off the stock ecu with less than stock boost until I fell confident that everything is in order and I know enough about the car(s) to add an increase in power etc.....
I'm all about meetin up and bs'in with people who enjoy cars like I do and I'm definately an open learner
