Is this in Seattle? Do we do this in different cities such as Portland? Do we absolutly have no one local in Oregon/Washington that can tune our cars? I think there is a lot interests out there but it will come down to how many people can turn it into plans and have their cars ready for the tune.

I'd be willing, if it was possibly closer. It doesn't seem like enough people are interested at once to get it going. I also really don't feel like driving 6 hours either though. If it was in Portland or maybe Oregon Washington border area I'd probably do it.

Yeah it sucks. Seems all the reputable shops are So-cal, Mid-west, or east coast area, everywhere but the NW.

The Spyder who owns(?) FD3S engineering says he tunes his cars and friends cars but I really didn't know what he meant by that. Also their website says they're not accepting new cars anyways but it's been like that for a while which is a shame, there's a couple things I need fixed which I don't feel like dealing with myself.

Just many of reasons why these cars are so fun to own.

Let Intec tune your car they've tuned many fds and they all run perfectly. The tuner is trained by Apexi and his mentor who thought him how to tune fds is one of the top d1gp tuners in Japan.

Intec Racing in Kent, WA? What's the name of the tuner that specializes in FDs? If he is trained by apexi and mentored by top Japanese tuner, he has to be pretty good.

Yes in kent and his name is Lawrence. His tuning's amazing. Hes one of the few tuners in the us that can tune big ports perfectly. One of the rx7s he tuned had a full bridge with a 35r and the idle was flat at 900 with no brap just like re amemiyas d1 cars and the owner drives it daily

Lol, character.

He tunes cars, he has a lot of experience. Call him and talk to him. He takes the time needed to get it tuned right, just make sure your junk is setup good before you waste everyone's time.

Not shitting on BDC and what not but why don't we set up something with this Lawrence dude if he's such a good tunner? It'll be cheaper with him already being here and having a dyno, I'd sign up for that.

I have not had good experiences with Intec. Nor have i heard good stories about the shop and the people who have worked there in the past. Lots and lots of horrible theft related rumors floating around locally and on the interwebs. That and Lawrence isnt "known" for tuning rotaries. People dont fly him around the country to tune their cars. I want someone who is willing to spend the time to help me get my maps just right. And hopefully i'll end up not only paying for good maps but also a better understanding on how to make changes on my own once he is gone. And as for being familiar with the power fc. Well they tried to test a friend of mines power fc simply by plugging in a data log-it. No engine harness (you know the one that supplies power and ground) just the data log-it. Umm.....really? I'll either wait until i have the money and strong desire to get bdc out here myself or i'll just wait for you guys to organize something and ride the coat tails. Not interested in paying someone for another "ok" tune.

agreed.

I 'd rather fly Brian out than have someone local who is not as "known" So is Brian from BDC the best rx7 tuner in the US? It seems like he specializes in Haltech tuning, but what about Power FC for FDs?

Then do it. Lol, this thread has been going for over a year and a half and no one does it. I thought BDC was special so I paid for him to come up, was simple as that. Pay him, he will come tune your car. Rotary isn't that special, I saw BDC tune my car, and I have seen Lawrence tune many rotary and pistons powered cars. Same thing except Lawrence has his own dyno to help with the tuning also instead of driving around on the streets for hours doing 45 to 80 mph pulls. My tune from BDC was good, and he cleaned up my friends Steve Kan or what ever his name is tune, but it's just looking at the AFRs and changing the tables fuel wise. He isn't some sort of rotary wisperer.

I would find someone that uses a stand alone wide band knock sensing system and software for tuning. ask your tuners if they use that or have heard of it. with that, they can wear head phones and listen to the combustion through their own knock sensor and also graph the wide band in their own software and then make good knock tables in your stand alone from there.

Rotary has it's own built in knock sensor. Lost an apex seal under high RPM and high boost? You knocked, try again. Simple as that.
