BDC tuning session Seattle/Tacoma area

Ok guys I am wrapping up my build and it's time to start looking at a Tuning session. I literally just got off the the phone with Brain/ BDC and here is what we have started hashing out.

Time frame- April-May (flexible let's hear your input)

Cost 350 + split cost of airline ticket (airline ticket will be APPX 250-300 he said)

This is per car for 1 map for your normal car.

By normal car he means something that doesn't need mechanical work to get to the point of tuning. If your car is absolutley insane (IE crazy AI injection setup) He may charge an additional 75-100 dollars.

We nstill need to lock in a Dyno to use. I am thinking of talking to Drift office to see what they would charge us for use of the Dyno. If anyone else has a suggestion let me know as I am open to options.

Here is a link to his site for more info on his abilities/ contact info.

BDC Tuning

Systems he is qualified on according to his site:

Haltech, PowerFC, Microtech, etc

So let's start a list on interest. (feel free to PM me questionsor to get on the list)

He is a good tuner. He spends the time needed to get it running great. Well worth the $.

A tip for akunochi though. If you get 10 people signed up for a tune, more than half will most likely drop last minute for multiple reasons. (car not ready, no money at that time, too long of a trip, blah blah.) Because of the time he spends on each car, any more than 4 or 5 cars will most likely require a 2nd day.

Yeah a note note on that. Brian has stated that he can comfortably do about 2-3 cars a day. He did say he has no problem staying to finish all the cars that sign up though. He is all about taking care of your car.

I think a fair thing to do to prevent price shifting is this.

Towards the end of March when we have a more solid date/number of cars to put down your share of his airline ticket. This would prevent the cost from shifting on everyone else if people start dropping out. Just an idea. LMK what you think.

Hell I'll come up just to hear my engine. Might even get in a pass or two on the Dyno.

I have been wanting to meet Brian in person anyways. As long as its between the 23rd April and 13 May. SLC starts after that for me.

They do nice group rates and plenty of rotary engine experience/tools.

Tell em Tweak sent cha. Then slap Tony upside the head when you get there and tell him Tweak sent that too.

Thanks tweak,

I just got off the phone with Inec. After talking to Tony he said it will be about 80 an hour or about 600 for 8 hours without a dyno technician. It seems like a fairly decent price. Obviously this will effect the overall cost of the tune.

I'm sure he can, but I'll shoot him an email and then PM you.

Here is more clarified breakdown of cost.

350 for your tune.

Cost of getting Brian and the Dyno
900 broken up between however many cars.

At least with me, BDC did all his tuning on the street. If you make it a dyno and tune day, while he is tuning out people's non-WOT street manner on the street (half hour to an hour most likely), someone could be doing a normal dyno (at a discount). This will help offset the cost. You can then also invite non-rx7 owning people to come and do a dyno at a discount. Intec is good at getting people in and out of the dyno quickly.

OK, so back on topic - If BDC is coming sometime in the future, like next 6 mo. I'll be down. I need some time to get an Rtek + whatnot. If not, then I'll catch him next time.

I still plan on having Brian come up. I have just been so focused on gathering the parts needed to finish etc that I have let this thread slip. I'll be in contact as I finalize things.

ok so ive had several experiences with BDC. I have nothing but good things to say. he is VERY strict about the cars setup before he tunes, and i totally understand why. he offers advise anytime i call him. so i recommend him.

So should we start a list again for interest? Once we get 5-10 people who are willing to at least make the deposit to cover airfare, we can settle on location. I need to get a tune and the sooner the better.
