Back from the dyno. 244/218

Hey thought you guys might be interested in this. Just got back from Carb Connection dyno day put on by bimmer forum. So last october 06 I ran out there with the same guys. I did 249 and 199 at 10 psi, running the stock ecu with a S-afc and fcd. So over the winter I put in a power fc from a FD and wire it into my S-5 T2 harness. I then took it down to Ground Zero and had Ralph tune it in. He ended up stoping at 7 psi because of knocking with the winter gas.

So I took it back to carb connection this morining to see the difference standalone makes. I ended up doing five pulls, mostly because the dyno guys were having trouble with the rpm signal. I ended up on the 5th run at 244 rwhp and 218 torque at 8 psi, it spiked to 9.7 at 3800 rpm or so then level out for a while and tapered off at the end. So the only mods between the two runs were a power fc upgrade and larger fmic I went from a core size of 12x12x3 to a 18x12x3 core size ebay special.

Worth noting my 06 dyno was running pretty lean low 13.0's. This one was low 12.0s high 11.0's. I also had the larger fmic this time and ems. So definately running more effecient that is for sure. Motor is a stock jspec import S-5 t2 engine, full 3 inch exhaust, large fmic, msd on the leading, walboro 255, rc 750's and 1000's, aeromotive fpr, act aluminum flywheel, FD power fc, greddy profec B boost control. tb mod, no emission, The turbo is a small upgrade it is a T04B S trim wheel the smallest compressor wheel they make for the t04b. The front cover was machined to fit the wheel so it looks totally stock. So my point is just buy a cheap standalone, I spend the same amount of money doing piggy back add ons.

How is the daily driveability ?
Does that much power upset handling ?

Holy crap. You're rodding on it at anything above 11.8? You are a far braver man than I Chris!

Dont go off of their AFR, At idle i am 11.2 their wideband was showing 12.2, it was stuck in the tail pipe though. At wot my wideband is showing 12.2 to 11.7, and their was like 13.0's or so. Yea the dyno guy said I was running lean, and I said well I not seeing it on my wide band and tended to agree. So I think I am safe, also it is right where Ground Zero set it.

Ok, that's good.

I'm a bit conservative, so I tend to keep it under 11.8 under boost if at all possible. I'd rather lose a couple HP than a motor!
