Exclamation Autofest Northwest

What: Autofest Northwest

When: Thursday, July 30th (track)
Friday, July 31st (Hang out at Autotown Mazda's new 'Revolution' dealership?, Friday night drags @ PIR)
Saturday, August 1st (dyno/tuning/install, BBQ, car show@ Surgeline Tuning)

Hotel: I want to find a nice hotel that will be willing to give discount rates to MazdasNW.com members

Who can come: Anyone, so if you know someone that is interested in tracking their car, encourage them to sign up. As of now, I am only posting this on mazda forums, but in April I will be posting this on other car forums, so if you want to keep this a mazda only event and you want to make sure you will have a spot, I highly recommend signing up before April.

Track day cost: Drivers:$195, observers:$10 at the gate

Driver registration: http://www.motorsportreg.com/index.c...A19A74B9EF0B2A

We will have the track from 9am-4pm

We only have room for 20 new drivers(those who have attended 0-2 track days), and 20 intermediate drivers(those who have attended 3-6 track days) and 20 experienced drivers(those who have attended 6+ track days)

Every driver must have a Helmet with a Snell rating of 2000, or m2000

Tech inspection: The first tech inspection, will be at Adrenaline Racing in Lake Oswego. It will cost $25 (Link here:http://www.arautoservice.net/)it will be up to you to make an appointment with them before the track day. If you are not close to Portland you can get a tech inspection at a local shop, as long as they call Adrenaline Racing to find out what to look for during the tech inspection. The second tech inspection will be at the track. If you passed the first tech inspection, but fail the track day inspection, you will not be allowed to race and you will not get a refund unless you can fix your car and pass tech.

Sponsors:
Local: About 6 shops interested
Big: Now that I have a date set I will be able to go after big sponsors like Mazda NA, AEM, HKS..etc
If anyone knows anyone that works for a company that might be interested in sponsoring the meet send me a pm.

We will also need about 20 volunteers to help during the track day.

I need to have at least 40-50 people signed up by the end of April or I will have to look into terminating the track day and give refunds to those who have already signed up. This event will cost around $10,000-$12,000 to run. If we make under $10,000 I will be accountable for the rest of the money, so that is why I have to have people sign up early.

Thanks to everyone who helped me with planning last years meet and thanks to those who showed up. Sorry I was late, I could not get to sleep until 5am the night before, so I had to sleep in and then I wound up hitting some traffic on the way up to Seattle, so yeah things didn't go exactly how I planned. Frown But at least I got to meet with/talk to most of you and checked out your cars.

You know I should be down for it..

Do you know what exactly Adrenaline is going to be testing? Like... Tiny oil leaks ok? Wheel bearings? Engine mounts? Etc...

Hey Derek,
I don't know what specifically they will be looking for, so I would just give them a call or stop by the shop and talk to Eddie.

I'm pretty sure that I'm down. This is pretty much just a standard HPDE then? Are there going to be any instructors?

Yeah, it's a standard high performance driving event. Yes there will be instructors.

I unfortunately had to drop the track day portion of Autofest Northwest. I talked to Eddie (who is hosting the track day) and he agreed that it was the smart thing to do since only 4 people had signed up. As for the people who already signed up, Eddie will still be hosting the track day, it just won't be an official part of Autofest Northwest. So if you want to still sign up, please do. Thanks for understanding, hopefully the track portion will come back for Autofest Northwest 2010.

Autofest Nothwest will now consist of 2 days, Friday July 31st will be the Mazdas Northwest hang out day/ friday night drags @ PIR. The second event day, August 1st will be a car show/dyno day held at Surgeline tuning in Portland. It will be open to all car enthusiasts. Mazdas Northwest members will get first priority for dyno runs. There will also be a car show open to all makes and a BBQ.

Sorry about the lack of updates recently, I have been really busy with my new job. Anyways I am looking at moving the meet to the second or third week of august because there is another car show that is going on the week before the original date I had set. Everything is mostly set up, I just have to finalize the plans with Surgeline and the shops that I have invited. I will have the final details on this site on Wednesday night or Thursday morning.

The track day is still going on, but only through AR Auto Service as usual.

Adam is correct. The track day is still going to happen, it just won't be a part of Autofest Northwest this year. You can call AR auto service at (503) 697-3311 to find out any info you need.

Unfortunately I have to cancel the meet this Saturday. I requested time off from work, but they denied my request. I will be rescheduling it for sometime in September. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused anyone.
