Audio shop near Tacoma?

I have an aftermarket Kenwood DVD player in my 94 FD. It is completely screwed up and I don't really know how in the heck to go about finding the problem. The sub-woofer doesn't really work, and it sounds as if the right speaker is blown. I'm pretty sure it was installed incorrectly by a prior owner and I'm looking for someone who can figure it out for me.

Folks here gave me good recommendations on Jerry's Little Car Shop. Any similar recommendations on a shop to do some audio work on my FD?

-7,890,436,375,927 for Car toys!!! Shotty workmanship and low knowledge employees..... I say my soon to be neighbor who left CarToys for that very reason... They run a terrible car audio department. Not to mention I don't believe they are a Kenwood dealer... Although I'm about an 75 minutes north of University place, this guy is a genius and should be able to troubleshoot no problem, not to mention you won't have to pay him and arm and a leg! Maybe just get him a bottle of liquor or someting lol I'll see if I can get some contact info for him and if he's willing to do it... To give you an idea of his capability, he designs and manufactures electrical parts for older Z cars (usually his first then makes more if there is interst, and there always is) and does a very good job. half the electrical stuff on his Z was made b himself...

-1 for cartoys.. Way overpriced and not always top notch work or follow up service. I worked there for years. Check out Tee'z Extreme Motorsports. I also worked there and one of the better Cartoys installers currently runs the place and does all installs and custom work. Great price and flawless install's. Give em a call and ask for Damian (253) 582-9215. Once you talk to him you'll know he has tons of knowledge in the car audio department. AND NEVER GO TO THE B&I, I DONT KNOW WHAT THE GUY ABOVE ME IS THINKING. YOU HAVE A FD NOT A PINTO.

What I really need is expertise, not hardware. I need someone who can troubleshoot the problems.

I talked to Damian this afternoon. He was helpful. I'm going to take the car in next week and have him take a look. I may just see about reinstalling the original OE audio heads. I've heard that it is possible to use some Miata heads as well so I may consider that. I'm afraid that my right door speaker may be blown and I'm not excited about trying to find a replacement for it.

thinking about replacing stock speakers with stock speakers? why not install something worth the same amount, and have them play better than stock crap?

I don't know. I'll have to figure out exactly what the situation is.

So I was able to talk to him today... He's not really familiar with Kenwood cuz it wasnt a product they carried while he was there, but one thing he said to try is to hold the reset button on the front for about 5 seconds or so. See if that solves any problems... Hopefully Damien can help you out a little more...

Thanks for the effort. Damien thinks that the problem most likely is that the Kenwood systems just wasn't setup like the Bose. The Base has/had independent amplifiers for each speaker I believe.

Ahh so the proper hardware may not have been used to make the bose system function properly with the new head unit?? Common mistake for the uneducated... Not being you, but the installer
