April 22 Autocross: Salem, OR (pictures)
The weather started a bit overcast, but any moisture on the ground dried up quickly and by the end of the first run group, the clouds started to break. I only stayed for the morning session, but it was (as usual) an entertaining and adrenalin pumping experience.
The photos below have been scaled to 1400x1050 (proper 4:3 aspect ratio), due to the forum restrictions. Sorry. If anyone wants a original higher resolution image, PM me and I can email it/them to you.
Two S4 FCs showed up, the blue one has a custom turbo setup, very nicely done, complete with 4-point strut tower brace, full suspension, racing seat, harness, etc. The BOV was pleasantly loud also.

The other FC was NA, as far as I could tell. But it turned in very good times, and had the distinction of being the quietest FC I've ever heard, thanks to its totally functional stock exhaust. Full suspension on this one too, and a gutted interior (at least the rear area).

The other RX-7 that showed up was a 12A SA with quite the lumpy idle. It arrived in an enclosed trailer, and stalled several times before the driver managed to back it out onto the K-Mart parking lot. It was one of the loudest cars there, if not the very loudest, but wasn't as fast as I had hoped, considering the noise.
Tim's friend Eric brought his (new?) RX-8 to the event, and chomped at Tim's feet, achieving a time within seconds of the bewilderingly powerful C4.

Non-rotary vehicles included Tim's aforementioned 1990(ish) C4 Corvette with the ridiculously modified engine, the uber-sexy black Lotus Europa (not shown) who almost had time of the day (about 1 second off), were it not for the car behind door number 3, Mark Johnson's black and white racing Rabbit. It's not really a fair comparison, as the extensive autocross-oriented mods on the Rabbit make it more than a match for the modest adjustments to the Europa, and not even 700bhp and Kumho Victoracer autocross tires could make Tim's C4 competitive, since it's mainly built for drag racing.
I thought I had taken some shots of the Europa, but I can't find them. I'll dig through the archive and find an older photo if someone is interested. It's a really well-kept car.

I feel pretty bad about that, but the answer is pretty much no. The reason, logically enough, is that I was in your passenger seat for all 4 of your runs.
So I do have the video that I took from the first run (from inside the car), but unfortunately no other video or pictures exist for this event. I've been regretting how that turned out for you since we left, and I'll be sure to get some action shots next time.
If you're interested in that video, we'll have to meet in person to exchange it, because all the videos I took are too big even for email.
Thanks for the ride, and I look forward to the event at the fairgrounds.
